I'm writing a book on the undiscovered Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Any ideas, leads, suggestions, etc. will be greatly appreciated.
I'm mostly interested in unusual and unknown places and things. Also would like tourism, PR & lodging info and contacts.

For sure......If you are traveling now in Yucatan you are able to do a lot of research yourself..for travel to remote areas or perhaps marginal areas of large cities and towns, a good online resource is Localyte.com, native guides, unique lodging places and transportation, etc. in 170 countries, simply log on to http://www.localyte.com/ type in your destination and use the 'ask a question' application, many of the native guides are students, working locally for extra money, not professional tour operators. Be sure and visit personally all lodging places in remote or off the beaten path locations recommended to you..many "jungle scams" exist..I was a guide based in C.A. for years..there was one lodging place in jungle of Peten (where tikal is located) Guatemala that charged couples up to hundreds of dollars a week for 'all inclusive' packages including lodging, meals, tours, sailing, guides, etc. of course the clients would be recruited by beautiful website or in Antigua, Guatemala hole in the wall travel agencies, often national tourist commission local reps get a kickback from these people. Been in C.A. 23+ years. Saludos y buena suerte.
