The hiking season is just staring up here in northern Finland and I can't wait to get back out on the bear trail (karhunkierros) again this year.
The Karhunkierros, or Bear Trail, is an 80km long hike through the Oulanka National Park and the most famous of all the Kuusamo and Ruka hiking trails.
The Oulanka National Park is the most popular national park in Finland, attracting almost 180,000 visitors every year and is well known for its diverse habitat, unique landscape and the variety of species that inhabit the park, from birds and animals to flora.
You can read more about it here: Ruka and Kuusamo
The Inka Trail winds across the Andes to Machu Picchu,
The Inka Trail between the Sacred Valley of the Urubamba River and the mysterious abandoned citadel of Machu Picchu is one of the world's classic treks. Climbing out of the river valley, crossing rugged mountain passes over 13,000 ft high, the Inca trail winds through the Andes, passing numerous significant Inca ruins en route before descending through the Sun Gate to the silent stone city of Machu Picchu. Tohike the Inka Trail is a thrilling experience and a very great priviledge. The purpose of this website is to share the thrill and privilege of the trip with those who may not hike it in person, and to help future hikers plan their coming adventure. Come, enjoy and have an unforgettable experience all along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with all friends and family!
A world of unspoiled natural environment is waiting for you to uncover. Unfold the green veils of Dominica, the nature island of the Caribbean and find the hidden natural treasures hidden beneath its rain forest. Learn the rich history as you hike the rugged terrains, through the paths of the early settlers, the Indigenous Carib Indians who settled on the island before the the 18th century, or walk in the footsteps of the slave warriors who escaped and fought for their freedom during the slave revolution in the late 17th to early 18th century.
A true natural paradise.
Discover the Dordogne in South West France.

There are short walks and long treks, including the pilgrimage trail of Saint Jacques de Compostelle which crosses the Dordogne on the way to Spain.
In the heart of the Dordogne is the Vezere Valley, European capital of pre-history.
The valley of the Isle follows the river through the centre of the ... and crossing the capital city of Perigueux. There is walking and hiking to suit all levels and a mild climate and wonderful food. It really is worth taking a look!
