Finally I can announce that my latest iPad and iPhone application is now out. Lots of info, pics and fun facts about Sydney (Australia's) past and present. Over 130 places and hundred of pics.

To get it, download the free Sutro World @ www.sutromedia.com/world (or find Sutro World on iTunes App store).
THEN sort by name: Sydney's Living History - AND click the price in the upper right corner and watch it download.

Is it a ghost town? Half the town is in ruins and almost all business is gone, yet there are still 65 hardy souls that live here, along with a saloon and gift shop. Come along with The World on Wheels as we visit the Gold Rush...ghost town?...of Hornitos, California. Brand new report with pics and video: http://tinyurl.com/buuh6az

One of the richest gold mining areas was the south end of California's Motherlode where a few mines still operate. On a brand new report at The World on Wheels, we visit Mariposa which not only celebrates its place in Gold Rush history and the home of John C. Fremont, but offers a great, relaxing escape from the bustling cities below. With plenty of pictures and a new video: http://tinyurl.com/8xz26bt

For Civil War enthusiasts:

We have blocked space on the American Queen paddlewheel steamboat, sailing August 20 - 30, 2012 from Chattanooga, TN to Vicksburg, MS (with motor coach transportation to New Orleans and 1 night hotel stay in New Orleans all included).

The cruise line (Great American Steamboat Company) will provide the ultimate Civil War experience, complete with actors, impersonators, lecturers, balladeers, field trips and reenactments designed to entertain as well as increase understanding of this pivotal point in history.

This will be a fundraiser for the Battle of Franklin Trust.

Fares will include:

  • Shore excursions.
  • One-night luxury hotel stay and transfers after your voyage.
  • Complimentary bottled water and soft drinks.

For those interested in Heritage and Archaeology, Libya will soon be an amazing destination.  Check at this video posted a few days back about the potential of tourism in Libya.  I think the key will be the heritage sites...
