Hi All,Yes, Mentawai is the world best surfing.Mentawai is a quite remote area and many island with no community in the island which the people can enjoy the beauty of the island by them self.

No malaria-prone.Yes few people got Malaria long time ago but Mentawai is not a Malaria-prone location.Mentawai got no special place for nudist also very lack of infrastructures but many natural place/islands (with no community) which maybe more natural to enjoy it.

From my travel sources I've never heard or read that Mentawai was linked to nude beaches whatsoever but I know it as one of the best surfing locations in the world based on a professional surfing friend. Also, I believe he mentioned it is a malaria-prone location and quite remote. Sumatra, Indonesia, Bali, and many parts of southeast Asia and the area are not known for certain tolerances.

I hear this island has the world's best surfing which is good enough for me. But throw in naked women and you're really talking. So i just googled NUDE and MENTAWAI and I got nothing. Delvinus r you sure this is for real and can you supply a link to info on the nude beaches.

 90% Mentawai peoples is Christian..yep, many private beachs in the Mentawai island but the problem is lack of infrastructure!!

Please,please.. don't be naked in the Public!!! (laugh!!)

I'm still confused. What is the religion on Mentawai?

In any event, unless you have a private beach, it sounds way too risky to me to be naked on any public beach officially subject to the laws of Sumatra, Indonesia.

Well, maybe in some area of Indonesia yes!! but Mentawai island is not moslem area...but I don't think any place you can show up the nudity in the public especially in front of community.

As long as not being naked in front of or in the community are is fine!!

Maybe nudity is tolerated, so far, by the locals, who want the money coming from foreign surfers. But I'd be careful about promoting an island in the most conservative part of a Muslim country as a nudist vacation destination.

This is the first time I've heard of nude beaches in Indonesia -- and in Sumatra, no less! No hassles with the authorities?
