Never been to Africa. Friends who have say that South Africa's a great place to start, for the beginner: great game parks, world-class cities like Capetown, etc. Any other suggestions for someone who's never been south of Morocco?

I'm embarking on a new adventure next week--deep into West Africa. The mystery of Mali and Burkina Faso--the beliefs in magic, the very old mud structures that still exist, the ancient civilizations and cultures, a place where mask-making and use is integral to their beliefs--much new to understand and be able to share with clients as another facet of wonderful Africa.

Africa is front and center on our site this week, with the Go-Lo Spotlight shining on the famous dunes of Sossusvlei in Namibia's Namib-Naukluft National Park. After this week, look for it in our Spotlight archive.

Now is a great time to travel to Africa. Many airlines are having special airfares that have to be ticketed by September 24, but are good for travel through January 6, 2010. If you’ve been thinking about going to Africa—whether on a safari, a cultural trip, searching for your roots, or any purpose—this is the best airfare we’ve seen in a long time.

With the special airfares to Africa have you considered going to Zamibia?
We’re offering green Season specials this year! Valid 1st November 2009 to 5th January 2010. Including the Christmas Holidays!
