I want to apologize if you took exception to my comment on the web vs.print debate and press trips. My intent is not to make enemies or offend anybody. I think part of my perspective is driven by what the writing community is like in L.A. Most of my fellow writers are great, but there are a few bad apples, and almost every time we all get together, there's at least one of us who have issues with bloggers. That said, many of my publications work on small budgets, so it is perfectly permitted for me to accept and apply for inclusion on press trips. However, I have done many trips on my own without a formal press trip--including several pieces on the food of The Golden Triangle and Kolkata, so I do agree the press trip--though it is a wonderful thing, and a gift for some travel writers--is not the only option or way to be a travel writer.
Likewise...If I head up to Boston, which I may in the not too distant future, I hope to pick your brain, and will extend the same courtesy if you come to Cali
