Situated in the Manaslu region, high up near the Tibetan border, the whole area has a definite Tibetan Buddhist feel to it and is quite different from the surrounding countryside. A restricted area until 2008, Tsum Valley Trek in Nepal is relatively trekked by hikers, yet the starting point is only 7 hours drive from Kathmandu. Most of the 14 days are trekked at altitudes over 3,000 m. With the altitude and with walking days stretching from 5 to 7 hours, a fairly good level of fitness is required for this trek.

The trail passes through pine forests, along raging rivers with cascading waterfalls and incredible suspension bridges, through fascinating villages and to several gompas, monasteries, mani walls, and stupa, not to mention Milarepa’s Cave. On display are the mountain ranges of Himalchuli (7,893 m), Ganesh Himal (7,140 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), Churke Himal and the Poshyop Glacier.

For trekkers who are fascinated by Tibetan culture as well as mountains, Tsum Valleyoffers them the opportunity to witness Tibetan Buddhist people in their villages, monks and nuns in their respective religious orders, and the spectacular views of the Himalayas in an almost pilgrimage like trek into this hidden valley.

The Tsum Valley Trek can be done separately, or added to the Manaslu Circuit Trek for people with more time.
How to Book Now Tempo Traveller Hire In Udaipurtag:frugalnomads.ning.com,2021-11-26:3169359:BlogPost:7923142021-11-26T12:20:22.000ZTempotravellerhttps://frugalnomads.ning.com/profile/Hemant

The quiet village of Monkey River in southern Belize (not far from Placencia) is a habitat for a plethora of flora and fauna and as a result, it has been rated as one of the region's top tours. Tropical birds, butterflies, crocodiles, iguanas, howler monkeys, manatees, ocelots, and maybe even jaguars are just a few of the wildlife species that visitors see on this tour.

The tour stops at various locations to give visitors an opportunity to explore a bit of the jungle on foot, (keeping an eye out for snakes and spiders!). Howler monkeys will make their presence known with their famous calls, inviting children and adults to join in all the fun. Following well-marked paths, visitors can learn from their guides about the rich variety of medicinal plants, insects and animals that call the area home.

A Question for Avgeeks: What Are 'Winglets?'tag:frugalnomads.ning.com,2021-11-24:3169359:BlogPost:7919842021-11-24T21:55:43.000ZIberia Airlineshttps://frugalnomads.ning.com/profile/IberiaAirlines

At some point when you're approaching your plane you've surely wondered to yourself why the wings are curved, no? This design feature is called a winglet (also known as a wingtip device), and it's there not just to look cool but for an important purpose: to maximise aerodynamic efficiency. Interested in learning more? Read on!

If you're an aviation geek, you know that airplanes stay in the air thanks to the interaction of four types of physical phenomena:

Thrust - that related to the traction generated by the engines and their propellers

Weight - that related to the force generated by gravity

Lift - the upward force that the aircraft maintains (lift)

Aerodynamic drag. - And it's with this last one, aerodynamic drag or resistance, that winglets take center stage, especially. Their main objective is always be to reduce the aerodynamic drag of the aircraft, allowing a more gradual contact of both air masses. You will notice that these devices are organic in inspiration, similar to the wings of birds - even letting the feathers appear at the ends when they need it. And as with birds, aircraft are able to move due to the pressure difference between the upper part of the wing (the upper surface) and its lower part (the lower surface).

Vortexes and Aerodynamic Drag

This is the key point when it comes to winglets' function. Airflow from high pressure areas will always be directed to low pressure areas, and this difference in air masses can generate small eddies at the tips of the wings which are known as vortexes. And the difference in pressure between the lower part of the wing and the upper part causes increased drag and less lift, which leads to lower efficiency - and therefore increased fuel consumption.

Installing winglets counters this, weakening the force of the vortexes and reducing the flow of air that is mixed by the pressure difference, achieving energy efficiency and reducing aerodynamic resistance.

Winglets vs. Sharklets

In 2013, manufacturer Airbus launched new wings called sharklets (meaning little shark fins) on its A320 family models, considerably improving the performance of the aircraft. Since then, Iberia has integrated sharklets into its fleet on models such as the A321, A320, A319, and A350 (with this new model, they allowed the evolution of the winglets to address three key points: greater aerodynamic, energy, and ecological efficiency).

These devices serve to elongate the tip of the aircraft from the vertical axis by around 2.5 metres (just over eight feet) and reduce the aircraft's aerodynamic drag by around 6 percent. With less dynamic resistance, the engines need less thrust to overcome it and thus achieve a direct saving in fuel consumption - estimated between 3 and 4 percent depending on the route distance. So as engines require less thrust and consume less fuel, they also emit less CO₂ into the atmosphere - estimated that around 900 tonnes less per aircraft per year.

And the benefits of this state-of-the-art design do not end here; the aircraft can also fly higher, approximately 39,000 feet. It can take off with a lower thrust or with a greater takeoff weight, in addition to being extended the flight hours of its service life.

Other Types of Winglets

Though winglets and sharklets are the best known of these structures, over the decades the aeronautics industry has developed a number of additional variations, including:

Canted Winglets

These are mini-wings - essentially, short wedges - with an upward slope that were once found on Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft as well as on the Boeing 747. These days, however, they're a rarity.

Blended Winglets

Seen on many Boeing 737NG models, these combo winglets feature a smoother transition from wing to fin, as if it were an extension of the wing.

Split Scimitar Winglets

Also found in the Boeing 737NG family (specifically the Boeing 737 MAX), this variation fine-tunes the blended winglet by adding a downward-pointing fin, providing a reduction in drag and a range increase corresponding to 2 percent or more for long-range emissions.

Wingtip Fences

These are the fins used on some Airbus models, such as the A330 and A340 or the A350 family and A320neo. Their surfaces extend both above and below the wing (as the name suggests), forming a wingtip “barrier” to prevent higher-pressure airflow from leaking to underneath the wing. In the case of Iberia, you could find old or traditional tips in A32X models that formerly used this type of device.

Umrah is a voluntary or sunnah Pilgrimage that hundreds of thousands of Muslims undertake every year traveling through umrah package for 2022. Though umrah performance isn’t obligatory for any Muslim, pilgrims travel for it throughout the year because it holds rewards equal to that of Hajj pilgrimage. Nonetheless, Umrah travel is easy and convenient for Muslims across the globe because one can travel for it at any time of the year; there’s no specific timeframe to perform Umrah rituals. However, it goes without saying that the month of Ramadan remains the most rewarding time for umrah rituals.

Umrah rituals are few and if performed consecutively, umrah can be performed by a pilgrim in a matter of few hours. However, depending upon one’s physical capabilities the time required for umrah performance may differ for every individual.

If you are traveling for the holy pilgrimage of umrah soon, here are some of the necessary rituals you should know about.

Assuming Ihram.

Ihram is the state of absolute purity that a pilgrim must have to be in to perform the holy rituals of Umrah pilgrimage. Though the word Ihram is also used to refer to the ceremonial clothing worn for the pilgrimage. Assuming Ihram is necessary for every pilgrim; adult or children. Though the clothing rules may differ for men and women, the fundamental remains the same.

In order to assume Ihram, one must;

• Trim its fingernails and toenails.
• If necessary, get a haircut and mustache trim.
• Remove unnecessary air from the body.
• Perform Ghusl because it’s a recommended act.

When all of this is performed, a pilgrim can now wear Ihram clothes. Remember that all of this must be done before crossing the Miqat boundary. Otherwise, if the Miqat boundary is crossed by a pilgrim without having assumed Ihram, a penalty is due.

Tawaf of Holy Kaabah.

Tawaf refers to circumambulating around Holy Kaabah for seven consecutive rounds. The pilgrims must proceed for the Tawaf in an anticlockwise direction i.e., keeping Kaabah on the left-hand side. Remember that each round of Tawaf must start as well as in at the place of Hajar-al-Aswad.

Tawaf is among the fundamental and most significant rituals of umrah pilgrimage thus one must perform it very carefully.

Sayee of Safah and Marwah hills.

Walking across the hills of Safah and Marwah present inside Masjid-al-Haram for seven circuits is what we call the Sayee ritual. The first circuit of Sayee must be started from Safah towards Marwah and then continued in this manner such that the last round ends as at Marwah.

Halq and Taqsir.

After all the above-mentioned rituals are complete, the pilgrim must trim its hair. It’s the last ritual of Umrah pilgrimage thus marking the completion of umrah rituals for a pilgrim.
The Cellular Jail, also known as Kālā Pānī ('Black Water'), was a colonial prison in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India. The prison was used by the British government for the purpose of exiling political prisoners to the remote archipelago. Many notable activists, including Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Batukeshwar Dutt, Hare Krishna Konar, Shiv Verma, Yogendra Shukla, and Sudhanshu Dasgupta were imprisoned here during the struggle for India's independence. Today, the complex serves as a national memorial monument.

Although the prison complex itself was constructed between 1896 and 1906, the British had been using the Andaman Islands as a prison since the days in the immediate aftermath of the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Shortly after the rebellion was suppressed, captured prisoners were put on trial, with many of them being executed. Others were exiled for life to the Andamans to prevent them from re-offending. Two hundred rebels were transported to the islands under the custody of the jailer David Barry and Major James Pattison Walker, a military doctor who had been warden of the prison at Agra. Another 733 from Karachi arrived in April, 1868. In 1863, the Rev. Henry Fisher Corbyn, of the Bengal Ecclesiastical Establishment, was also sent out there and he set up the 'Andamanese Home' there, which was also a repressive institution albeit disguised as a charitable one. Rev. Corbyn was posted in 1866 as Vicar to St. Luke's Church, Abbottabad, and later died there and is buried at the Old Christian Cemetery, Abbottabad. More prisoners arrived from India and Burma as the settlement grew. Anyone who belonged to the Mughal royal family, or who had sent a petition to Bahadur Shah Zafar during the Rebellion was liable to be deported to the islands.

The remote islands were considered to be a suitable place to punish the independence activists. Not only were they isolated from the mainland, the overseas journey (kala pani) to the islands also threatened them with loss of caste, resulting in social exclusion. The convicts were also used in chain gangs to construct prisons, buildings and harbour facilities.

By the late 19th century, the independence movement had picked up momentum. As a result, the number of prisoners being sent to the Andamans grew and the need for a high-security prison was felt. From August 1889 Charles James Lyall served as home secretary in the Raj government, and was also tasked with an investigation of the penal settlement at Port Blair. He and A. S. Lethbridge, a surgeon in the British administration, concluded that the punishment of transportation to the Andaman Islands was failing to achieve the purpose intended and that indeed criminals preferred to go there rather than be incarcerated in Indian jails. Lyall and Lethbridge recommended that a "penal stage" should exist in the transportation sentence, whereby transported prisoners were subjected to a period of harsh treatment upon arrival. The outcome was the construction of the Cellular Jail, which has been described as "a place of exclusion and isolation within a more broadly constituted remote penal space."

The construction of the prison started in 1896 and was completed in 1906. The original building was a puce-coloured brick building. The bricks used to build the building were brought from Burma.

The building had seven wings, at the center of which a tower served as the intersection and was used by guards to keep watch on the inmates; this format was based on Jeremy Bentham's idea of the Panopticon. The wings radiated from the tower in straight lines, much like the spokes of a bicycle wheel.

Each of the seven wings had three stories upon completion. There were no dormitories and a total of 696 cells. Each cell was 4.5 by 2.7 metres in size with a ventilator located at a height of 3 metres . The name, "cellular jail", derived from the solitary cells which prevented any prisoner from communicating with any other. Also, the spokes were so designed such that the face of a cell in a spoke saw the back of cells in another spoke. This way, communication between prisoners was impossible. They were all in solitary confinement. The locks of the prison cells were designed in such a way that the inmate would never be able to reach the latch of the lock. The prison guards would lock up the inmates and throw the key of the lock inside the jail. The inmate would try to put his hand out and try to unlock the door but would never be able to do so as his hand would never reach the lock.

"The British Raj sent Indian dissidents and mutineers to a remote island penal colony in an 'experiment' that involved torture, medical tests, forced labour and, for many, death." In response to poor conditions in the prison, including the quality of prison food, numerous prisoners went on hunger strikes. Those who did were force fed by the prison authorities.

Solitary confinement was implemented as the British colonial government desired to ensure that political prisoners and revolutionaries be isolated from one another. The Andaman island served as the ideal setting for the colonial government to achieve this.

Most prisoners of the Cellular Jail were independence activists. Some inmates were Fazl-e-Haq Khairabadi, Yogendra Shukla, Batukeshwar Dutt, Babarao Savarkar, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Sachindra Nath Sanyal, Bhai Parmanand, Sohan Singh, Subodh Roy and Trailokyanath Chakravarty Several revolutionaries were tried in the Alipore Case (1908), such as Barindra Kumar Ghose, the surviving companion of Bagha Jatin, was transferred to Berhampore Jail in Bengal, before his mysterious death in 1924.

You Can see every thing just Book Cheap Andaman Tour Package

In March 1868, 238 prisoners tried to escape. By April they were all caught. One committed suicide and of the remainder Superintendent Walker ordered 87 to be hanged.

Among the records of the Government of India's Home Department, we found the Empire's response in its Orders to Provincial Governors and Chief Commissioners. "Very Secret: Regarding security prisoners who hunger strike, every effort should be made to prevent the incidents from being reported, no concessions to be given to the prisoners who must be kept alive. Manual methods of restraint are best, then mechanical when the patient resists."

Hunger strikes by the inmates in May 1933 caught the attention of the jail authorities. Thirty-three prisoners protested their treatment and sat in hunger strike. Among them were Mahavir Singh, an associate of Bhagat Singh, Mohan Kishore Namadas and Mohit Moitra. These three died due to force-feeding.

Statue of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar at Cellular Jail.

Another two wings of the jail were demolished after India achieved independence. However, this led to protests from several former prisoners and political leaders who saw it as a way of erasing the tangible evidence of their history.

The Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital was set up in the premises of the Cellular Jail in 1963. It is now a 500-bed hospital with about 40 doctors serving the local population.

Cellular Jail was declared a National Memorial by the then Prime Minister of India, Morarji Desai on 11 February 1979.

The centenary of the jail's completion was marked on 10 March 2006. Many former prisoners were celebrated on this occasion by the Government of India.

Apart from guided tours, a sound-and-light show is also run in the evenings narrating and showcasing the trials and tribulations of the inmates.

by Inka Piegsa-Quischotte

Feet firmly planted on the ground, left elbow out, forearm straight, hand and wrist covered with a thick leather glove, I looked apprehensively at the master falconer standing by my side. He had just sent a magnificent Harris's hawk into the air, soaring into the sky, then swooping down towards me. “He won’t attack me, will he?” I asked. “Not unless he mistakes you for a rabbit,” the instructor deadpanned, “and there is no chance of that”, he grinned. He had placed a piece of chicken on my glove and, sure enough, with a swish of feathers, the hawk landed on my arm, gobbled up the chicken at lightning speed and eyed me expectantly, not unlike a playful dog who wants his master to throw the stick again.

Practiced in Central Asia and the Middle East as far back as 1700 BCE to hunt food and introduced to central and northern Europe around 400 CE (by the Huns, it's thought), falconry became the sport of kings and aristocrats, and in the 20th century started becoming more "democratised" among enthusiasts from many walks of life. In recent years, it's grown even further in popularity, and has even been included as an attraction to the public by falconry centres, tour operators, and even resorts, offering the chance to experience these impressive birds of prey up close and personal, learn how to care for them, and how to let them fly. I found one such place in Spain, the Las Colinas International School of Falconry, in the town of Campoamor, near Alicante where I live.

Basically, you walk with an instructor who carries the birds into the countryside whilst he explains how you have to hold them yourself; wrap the ties to which they are attached around your fingers; then let go and push them; and finally whistle, after you've placed their reward on your glove, to make them return. It’s a truly remarkable experience to see them fly and actually make them return to you - though also a bit intimidating to see a fierce-looking creature with a 1.2-metre (nearly four-foot) wingspan and razor-sharp talons extended and descending upon you. No flinching, though - it's not really about you at all; they're only fixated on that morsel of chicken.

I also learned more about falconry's fascinating history. Gradually, especially after the invention of firearms made it easier to hunt animals, it evolved into a sport for the upper classes. During the Middle Ages, the sons of nobles were trained in hunting with falcons along with archery and riding, and spent days in the field with their valuable birds. Falconers were the men who trained and looked after the falcons, and were held in high esteem. The Book of St Albans, first printed in 1486 and attributed to Dame Julia Berner, lists a hierarchy of birds and which one was most appropriate for which social rank. Ladies rode on horseback with their falcons too, and mostly favoured peregrine falcons - prominent among them was Mary, Queen of Scots (in modern falconry, peregrine falcons are still among the most widely trained birds, along with the red-tailed hawk and Harris's hawk, and women are the sport's fastest growing demographic).

Terms of falconry even found their way into the English language, like "hoodwinked", which comes from the leather hood that is placed over a falcon’s head to keep it quiet and relaxed, and or "under the thumb", which refers to the way a strap tied to the bird’s foot is clamped under the thumb to keep it in place.

In more recent history, as greater awareness of the environment and endangered species took hold, interest in falcons and hawks was revived and falconry schools sprang up in many countries of the world, among them Spain and the United States, with a view toward breeding and protecting the birds whilst allowing members of the public to enjoy a unique experience combining outings in nature with "meeting" and handling these majestic birds of prey.

In Spain, falconry was not introduced by the Huns - who never made it to Iberia - but rather by the Arabs, who ruled varying portions of the peninsula from 711 to 1492 (it remains a major pursuit in the Arab world, especially in Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf states). It became a sport of kings here too, as documented by El Libro de La Caza (Book of the Hunt) compiled in 1329 by one of that era's most powerful men, the Don Juan Manuel, Prince of Villena, listing the best places to hunt with falcons in Castile.

arturogi

As over the centuries falconry extended its reach in Spain, it became such an embedded part of Spanish culture that in 2010 it was included for this pursuit on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list along with 17 other countries (nine of which are Iberia destinations: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Morocco, and Portugal). These days it also plays a great part in Spanish conservation efforts, with centres also playing an important role in breeding vulnerable species like the Eastern Imperial Eagle, osprey, and other raptors, and reintroducing them into their natural habitats.

(And fun fact: many falconry enthusiasts in the Gulf states now prize falcons imported from Spain - kind of like history gone full circle. And since this is an airline blog, fun fact number two: most Spanish airports and a number of others around the world employ falconers and their raptors to patrol areas around the perimetre to scare off other birds from getting in the way of air traffic, as "bird strikes" against engines and cockpit windshields can be a significant safety hazard.)

https://youtu.be/QEJvhUIgWl0

Falconry in Spain is pursued largely by various clubs of cetrería enthusiasts, along with hunting preserves, and competitions are regularly held. For you as a visitor, other places in Spain that work with raptors include Alicante's abovementioned Las Colinas International School of Falconry, which offers hourlong sessions. Down in Andalusia, in the Cádiz province town of Algodonales, Skywings Falconry offers three-hour sessions with these majestic birds, as well as a much more intensive courses of two to five days for those who want to go in depth. It also offers an innovative activity called "parahawking" (above), in which visitors actually fly and interact with hawks and vultures on the fly - an absolutely breathtaking experience, without a doubt!

There are several other spots in Spain where you can watch raptors in action whilst not participating, such as the "Birds of Prey" show at Tenerife's Jungle Park and the Jardín de las Águilas in the Málaga town of Benalmádena. But quite honestly, nothing beats the thrill of interacting with these powerful avians - I know for me it will always remain one of my memorable experiences of a lifetime.

Now that summer is almost upon us, family vacations are very much on the menu. For those interested in heading to the USA, this blog has covered the country's famous "Windy City" in various ways, including the jazz scene, multiculti dining, movie locations, the city's Spanish connections, and all-around cool attractions which appeal to most everyone. Chicago, and the surrounding area of Illinois, however, can also be aces for a brilliant family holiday. Let me count the ways...

Grant Park & its Museums

Dubbed "Chicago's front yard", the crown jewel of the Loop section of downtown is a 127-hectare (313-acre) spread packed with family-friendly stuff. At Millennium Park at its northwestern corner, make funny faces in front of the massive, shiny, futuristic silver installation known as the Cloud Gate (aka the Bean); run giggling through squirting water of the Crown Fountain (top, designed by Spaniard Jaume Plensa, by the way); have a blast at the playground, rollerskating course (ice skating in winter), and climbing wall of next-door Maggie Daley Park; and bust a few boarding or blading moves at the Skate Plaza. Then at Grant Park's southern end are a trio of beloved Chi-town institutions. The Field Museum of Natural History is counted as one of the biggest and best in the world, designed to appeal to all ages of course, but especially kid-friendly with its interactive PlayLabs for the under-six set; fantastic exhibitions about nature and cultures past and present from across the world; and most especially its fossils and dinosaur skeletons - of which the star of the show is a Tyrannosaurus rex named Sue (above). Across the way and if anything even more popular, the Shedd Aquarium is home to more than 1,500 species including beluga whales, sharks, penguins, giant marine turtles and many, many more (some of which visitors can even meet up close and personal). Then there's the Adler Planetarium - the USA's first, founded in 1930 - with a bevy of space-science exhibitions (many of them interactive, and including remarkable artifacts such as the 1966 Gemini 12 space capsule) along with three full size theatres. Dare I say...out of this world?

Jutting 1,010 metres (3,300 feet) out into Lake Michigan, built in 1916 as a mixed-use passenger/freight pier, and named in honour of the naval veterans of World War I, these days its 20 ha. (50 ac.) are packed with eateries, shops, and attractions including the three-floor Chicago Children's Museum (considered one of the country's best); an IMAX theatre; and a Ferris wheel and other rides. Especially in summer, there are also concerts and other special events, as well as fireworks every Wednesday and Saturday night. https://youtu.be/GGgpkHcMmbM

Willis Tower Skydeck

Chicago is of course a classic city for skyscrapers - it had some of the first in the world - and these days many major urbs have buildings or communications towers with observation decks. But the Skydeck on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower (the Western Hemisphere's tallest building) goes most of them one better with its Ledge - actually, there are a pair of them, clear reinforced glass boxes jutting 1.3m (just over four ft.) out from the building, where adventurous little ones - and their parents - can feel like they're floating 412m (1,353 ft) over the cityscape, with eyepopping views out which on a clear day take in parts of three other states besides Illinois (Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin). And the rest of the 103rd floor is occupied by a multimedia exhibition about the Windy City that's engaging for all ages.

Lincoln Park Zoo

For family fun, zoos are always a good bet, and this 14-ha. (35-ac.) zoo in the eponymous elongated park running along the lake shore (Chicago's largest) is home to some 1,100 animals of more than 200 species from a wide variety of habitats around the world, from penguins and iguanas to lions and polar bears. Its "Farm in the Zoo" also lets kids get up close and personal with goats, cows, and other critters, and learn about farming and food production. Finally, as an added bonus, admission is totally free of charge. https://youtu.be/49MiktJzbGI

Lake County

If you have time for a day trip, there are plenty of options in what's known as Chicagoland, the surrounding area. About an hour and 20 minutes north of the city, this Illinois county also bordering Lake Michigan offers a wonderful mix for families. On the nature side, it's home to the state's richest variety of plants and wildlife, and greatest number of rare species, featuring ecosystems like prairie land, wetlands, oak groves, glacial lakes, streams; nature lovers can experience all this in various nature reserves.

There are a number of family-friendly attractions up here that are man-made, as well. Exhibit A is Six Flags Great America in the town of Gurnee, with a bevy of rides from mild to wild (its collection of 16 roller coasters is especially thrilling) and appearances by Superman, Batman, Bugs Bunny and other Warner Brothers and DC Comics movie characters, along with a water park called Hurricane Harbor. Right nearby in the same town is another aquatic playground - indoors this time - at Great Wolf Lodge, with a bevy of water slides, wave pools, lazy river, and much more (included for resort guests, with day passes for outside visitors). And also in town, check out Gurnee Mills, a nearly 200-store shopping mall which includes a goodly number of outlet shops as well as mostly fast-food) dining, a 19-screen cinema, mini-golf, and laser tag.

Starved Rock State Park

Back to the nature/outdoorsy side of things, along the Illinois River a couple of hours southwest of Chicago Starved Rock State Park is another of the state's most popular destinations. Its just over 11km² (just under four sq, miles) are especially well known for its lovely waterfalls (active in spring and after heavy rains) and 18 dramatic canyons, as well as a number of precolumbian and even prehistoric archaeological sites. In addition to a visitor centre, there are some 21km (13 mi.) of well marked trails, as well as opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, and kayaking; there are also educational programmes and guided hikes as well as trolley and boat tours. Visitors can also overnight, either at campsites or the 81-year-old Starving Rock Lodge, with nearly a hundred hotel rooms and individual cabins as well as several dining options (try the signature walleye fried in ale batter at the main restaurant).

Work-life balance is the name of the game in this Mediterranean city, which has a strong history of technological advancement. People from all walks of life may be seen at the city's restaurants and cafes as well as the theater and opera houses because of the work-life balance of the Catalan people. The neighborhood is well-liked by visitors who want to experience the outdoors, shop, dine, or take in the arts, as well as enjoy the area's beautiful climate. Hotelhunter.com can help you get the greatest deal on hotels in Barcelona.

Make your first trip to Barcelona unforgettable by following these tips.

Tipping is not required.

Like the United States and the United Kingdom, tipping is optional in Japan unless the service is very exceptional. Even if the service is extraordinary, servers are not expected to receive a tip of more than 10%. Employees in the hospitality industry such as bartenders and servers come under this umbrella.

Because credit cards don't normally allow for gratuities to be added to the bill, tipping should always be done in cash directly to the server. The usual gratuity for bellhops, housekeepers, and concierges at high-end hotels is one euro per piece of luggage.

Preparation is the key to having a successful vacation!
Only by completing your research and making your bookings well in advance for flights, hotel, or tickets to the city's key attractions can you find the best bargains in Barcelona.

You may avoid long lineups and disappointment by reserving in advance for some of Barcelona's most popular sights, such as the Sagrada Familia. Preparation is essential to prevent disappointment while visiting tourist attractions such as the Magic Fountain of Montjuic during the off-season.

Go to a beach that isn't in the immediate area.
Barceloneta's beach has the highest foot traffic since it is the nearest to the city. Mar Bella, San Sebastiá, Bogatell, Nova Icària, and Sant Miquel are five more beaches in Barcelona worth visiting if you're searching for a more peaceful atmosphere.
For a peaceful, clean beach within 25 minutes by metro from the city center, we love the Nova Icària beach.

Take a break from the norm.
There are a number of lesser-known sites in Barcelona that are just as valuable as the city's most recognized ones for first-time visitors.
Going off the usual road will give you a unique perspective on the city, even if you don't find many hidden gems there. Bunkers del Carmel, a military anti-aircraft fighting position used during the Spanish Civil War, provides one of the best views of Barcelona.

Explore the historic alleyways of El Born and Grácia, which are full with bars, restaurants and shops. Let go of the map and just go with the flow and see what happens on your first trip to Barcelona (but certainly not the last).
What are the Benefits of Online Booking of Cheap Flightstag:frugalnomads.ning.com,2021-11-21:3169359:BlogPost:7920442021-11-21T07:26:45.000Zrohny joneshttps://frugalnomads.ning.com/profile/rohnyjones

Some people are traipsing through lovely landscapes as others explore history from days of North America's earliest tribal peoples to the present. Avid birders use binoculars to spot colorful feathered friends in flight while canoers and kayakers dip paddles into the water. At the end of the day, many of these visitors to Panama City, Florida, belly up to an oyster bar to enjoy freshly shucked bivalves prepared in a variety of ways.

These seemingly disparate activities and attractions have one thing in common: they’re all taking place along designated trails that focus upon a single thing to do, see or eat. Countless trails around the country are available to people with a particular interest; from food to fashion, covered bridges to Kentucky bourbon, they offer something-for-everyone variety. No matter how esoteric someone’s passion, there may be a walking driving, biking, paddling, or other kind of trail somewhere that focuses on it.

Consider Panama City, a community of about 37,000 residents perched along Florida’s northwestern "panhandle" coast. For a smallish municipality, that town provides a surprising choice of routes that both locals and visitors may explore. The Oyster Trail alone has enough appeal to bring some travelers to town. A dozen restaurants, ranging from a ten-stool oyster bar to a casual grill to a fine-dining establishment, serve the fresh-from-the-sea food raw, baked, fried and prepared in other ways. Whether visiting Panama City for the bivalves or birds, hiking or history, you might find a trail with appeal.

Restaurants along a different oyster trail, which runs through Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama, bring their own personal touch to the recipes. In addition to traditional preparations, some serve them barbequed, fire roasted, Alfredo style and in ceviche.

Next door in Louisiana, it's this state's rich gastronomic culture which is celebrated along the Cajun Bayou Food Trail, comprised of restaurants that serve local favorites like gumbo, jambalaya and pecan pralines. Some family-run eateries follow recipes that have been passed down for generations.

Variety of a different kind greets visitors to the Fields of Gold Farm Trail in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. People may stroll through a farmers’ market, tour a working spread, enjoy a locally grown meal at a garden-to-table restaurant or pick their own fruit at an orchard. (fieldsofgold.org)

Fresh-picked apples, pears, grapes and cherries are sold at more than two dozen stands located along the colorfully named Hood River County Fruit Loop in Oregon. The 35-mile trail goes through forests, farmlands and orchards, and includes vendors offering flowers, pies jam, and local artisan gifts.

Visitors at the Fields of Gold Farm Trail

Berries are used in different ways on a route which leads through Surry County, North Carolina. The colorfully named Surry Sonker Trail connects a bakery, general store, winery, and other places which serve a quaintly named dessert created in the early 1800s by homemakers seeking to stretch the use of fruit or use it before it rotted. Recipes include fruit sweetened with sugar, molasses, and other ingredients blended into unshaped dough - so that like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike

A tour along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Where there’s food there often are beverages, and the birthplace of one is acclaimed along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Guests may visit a distillery that traces its ancestry back to the 18th century and another where they have a tasting while standing in the largest bourbon barrel in the world.

Those who like the word “soft” before their drink may prefer to set their sights on the multi-state Coca-Cola Trail. Places related to that world-famous beverage are described in a book of the same name, which can serve as a guide to museums, historic bottling plants and other destinations around the country. The story began in Vicksburg, Mississippi where the concoction was first bottled in 1894. Other stops include the Dawson & Stevens Diner in Grayling, Michigan, which doubles as a Coca-Cola museum, and a former bottling plant in Los Angeles that was built in the shape of an ocean liner.

"Camel Country" along the Maine Sculpture Trail. Photo by Alan Stubbs

Not surprisingly, state tourism offices promote the trails concept as a way to attract visitors. For example, Maine has a driving tour that leads to 34 outdoor sculptures strung out along 273 miles of its coastline; the Thoreau-Wabanaki Trail, which includes canoe routes that the author followed during trips to that state in the mid-1800s; and a Freedom Trail in Portland which leads to sites associated with the Underground Railroad and the anti-slavery movement of the 19th century.

Not to be outdone, trails which make their way through Ohio focus upon interests as diverse as shopping and steam trains, Italian food and ice cream. (trails.ohio.org)

Moving out west to Oregon, given the love of nature by many residents this state, it's not surprising that among trails within its borders are paths for hiking and biking, seeing wildlife and wild flowers, and dozens of other routes. Most famous is the local stretch of the Oregon Trail, part of the historic wagon route that began in Missouri and which, in the early 19th century. an estimated 400,000 settlers, including farmers, miners, ranchers and others, followed in their quest for a new life.

Other pages of history are turned during drives to see “quilt blocks” that adorn the sides of dozens of barns in Oregon’s Tualatin Valley. Some designs on those eight-by-eight-foot wooden slabs resemble traditional quilt patterns, while others display crops or animals, or relate to the farm family’s history.

And all this is just the tip of the iceberg. From seafood to sweets, berries to beverages it’s likely that somewhere in the country there may be one or more driving, walking or other trails focused upon an interest of yours.

Sandakphu Trek in January. Sandakphu trek, the highest peak in the Singalila ridge in West Bengal, is the only way to see the world's tallest four mountains. The entire Kanchenjunga Range can be seen from the trek's viewpoint. Sandakphu trekkers and backpackers who want to spend more time in the snow should plan a trip in January.

The weather in Sandakphu in January is cool but bearable. You don't have many problems if you take the necessary precautions. From this vantage point, you can even see a peak shaped like a man's head, with folded hands toward the chest and legs on the right. This is a type of 'Sleeping Buddha,' according to locals in Nepal and India.

On the left, you can catch glimpses of the three sister peaks, which provide spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Chmolonzo, Nuptse, Makalu, and other Annapurna range peaks. You will also be able to see Chomolhari, Bhutan's highest peak.
Chadar the Frozen River Trektag:frugalnomads.ning.com,2021-11-19:3169359:BlogPost:7920172021-11-19T09:57:35.000ZMoustache Escapeshttps://frugalnomads.ning.com/profile/MoustacheEscapes

At only 11150 feet above sea level, Chadar Trek almost feels like an expedition to the North Pole, where temperatures drop to -30 degrees at night, food is transported on sledges, you seek refuge in caves, and life thrives on survival instincts, making it a must-do trip.

The Chadar trek allows you to get to know the Zankari culture up close by meeting locals and experiencing their hospitality. One of the highlights of the Zanskar frozen river trek is the magnificent Nerak waterfall, which is completely frozen from top to bottom. The best time to go on a Chadar trek is between mid-January and mid-February, when the Zanskar river freezes and you can walk on massive slabs of ice that stretch for miles and miles.

The Triund trail, located just 7 kilometres from the city centre in the beautiful town of McLeodganj, is one of the easiest and shortest treks in Himachal Pradesh. It's very popular among beginners and first-time trekkers. Many college students plan a trip to Triund on a random weekend in January. Unlike other strenuous and high-altitude treks, this one allows you to reach the summit in just four hours.

A visit to Triund is a spellbinding experience. Cold weather allows you to keep your head held high among dense clouds and your feet grounded in white snow during the month of January. However, dense fog or mist may prevent you from seeing the Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar range clearly.

The popular Kareri Lake can be seen while walking up the trail. The trek becomes steeper after the Gallu Devi temple and may be even more difficult during the winter months. It's a good idea to keep a few things in mind when planning a good and safe trek.
Explore The Best Golden Triangle Tourtag:frugalnomads.ning.com,2021-11-19:3169359:BlogPost:3810882021-11-19T09:28:52.000ZAbhinav kumarhttps://frugalnomads.ning.com/profile/Abhinavkumar
