Paraty, Brazil: Musts and Must-Nots for October visit with children

Any advice on what are the 'must' and 'must nots' when visiting Paraty?  We are staying at a private villa with our own beach for two weeks late October.  I have two teenage daughters, a teen son and another son of 8 years old.  All reccomendations and information gratefully received!

There is so much to do around Parati and families can have diverse interests, so it would help if you could be a bit more specific. Are you interested in culture, community based tourism? Are you looking for the best beaches ?. Do you want lots of sports activities. Will you have a rented car?

Some things you shouldn´t miss if you have 2 weeks:

In Paraty there is a marvelous puppet theatre (Teatro dos Bonecos)
Trindade and Ilha Grande
Do part of Paraty - Cunha (check for road conditions if by car) and see the remains of old gold trail winding up through the rainforest.
Dinner at La Gite de Indaiatiba http:(//www.legitedindaiatiba.com.br/iindex.htm)
Go for slow travel options (bike, horseback, diving/snorkeling)
Visit islands and caiçara communities (several are receiving visitors) and the Quilombo Caminho da Independencia
