Need a recommendation for Saratoga Springs for 1 - 2 nights 8/11-12/12, in town or nearby. Prices seem ridiculous because of racing season. We are there for a wedding. Don't want a dumpy motel: any suggestions?

Hi David - there are 2 hotels in Malta which is 10-15 minutes south of here at exit 12. There are a Fairfield and a Hilton; Clifton Park, 20 minutes south has a variety of choices and an easy drive.

All the Saratoga ones will be extremely high that time of year. Lake George will also be high.  Good luck and have fun!

All the pricing in this area goes up significantly for racing season.  You will get better pricing the farther you go from the center of the city of Saratoga Springs.   So, you either need to plan to drive 20 minutes or more from your lodging to Saratoga or bite the bullet and pay peak season rates.    I think you will find that bed & breakfast lodging will cost less than downtown hotels so you might start looking there.

Enjoy your visit to our beautiful area!

Saratoga Springs has a great horse racing track, that is an exciting place to be when there are races going on. You should also check out the Yaddo Gardens, it is a beautiful place to relax and take in the scenery. If you are looking for lodging I suggest checking out http://bescover.com/New%20York. They have the best bed and breakfasts nationwide and it is a greatg way to meet the locals.
