We are renting a car to travel from Frankfurt through Germany into Salzburg and Hallstatt, but considered dropping the car before we traveled into Venice.

1. Has anyone taken the train from Munich OR Salzburg into Venice?

2. Has anyone driven from these locations into Venice?

Can anyone share their experiences ??

Hi Carla,

Here my second attempt replying. It is quite easy to take the train from Munich to Venice. There are two sites to check for schedules and rates: http://www.deutschebahn.com/en/start.html and http://www.oebb.at/en/

From Munich there are several trains a day, even one where you do not have to switch trains. Duration is 6 hrs and 39 min. 11:31a dep. arrive at 6:10p.

From Salzburg you need to switch in Innsbruck.

Good luck,

Would either of these train routes be more scenic ???

From Munich you will also travel via Innsbruck. I believe they are both scenic routes. I just have never done these.
