THE DREAMCATCHER HOTEL IN SAN JUAN TO REOPEN AFTER HURRICANE MARIA AND ALIGNS WITH GRASSROOTS FUNDRAISING EFFORT, PUERTO RICO RISING

San Juan, Puerto Rico—(October 6, 2017)

The Dreamcatcher, a bohemian, mid-century modern 12-room retreat in San Juan’s Ocean Park neighborhood and leading bed and breakfast in Puerto Rico, was fortunately spared major damage from Hurricane Maria. The hotel announces it will be reopening its doors today, Friday, October 6, ahead of schedule, welcoming guests with limited services and special rates for volunteers, relief workers and anyone displaced by the storm.

In an effort to reestablish their local community and provide assistance to fellow Puerto Rican US citizens in need of humanitarian aid,The Dreamcatcher owners Sylvia De Marco and Stephan Watts have partnered with Puerto Rico Rising, a true grassroots fundraising effort by locals for locals, that is compassionate and community-driven.
Puerto Rico Rising is comprised of individuals who live or have lived in Puerto Rico currently living in the States and abroad, raising funds and supplies providing direct relief efforts to Puerto Ricans throughout the island. No middle man, no red tape, no bureaucracy. The funds raised will go to doctors, teachers, farmers, chefs, social workers, tourism professionals, yogis, and other small business owners that will help heal communities, boost the economy, and make Puerto Rico rise again.

The Dreamcatcher team understands the urgency for relief efforts and the need for solidarity as island communities recover and rebuild. The Dreamcatcher is committed to contributing to the island’s tourism economy by getting their property fully up and running as soon as possible to welcome guests back to share the beauty, culture, and resilience of their beloved Puerto Rico.
