Looking for 'in the footsteps of...' travel books to review with my 'Edith and I; on the trail of an Edwardian traveller in Kosovo'

Hello tripperteenies,

My book Edith and I; on the trail of an Edwardian traveller in Kosovo - www.edith-and-i.com - came out this year. It tells the story of me tracing the journey of anthropologist, humanitarian aid worker and feisty Balkan explorer, Edith Durham. It's had some nice reviews so far (The Times called it 'the most delightful read of the summer'!) but I'm looking to partner it with other 'in the footsteps of...' travel books. I've found an excellent story of George Orwell in Burma and RLStevenson all over the place... Other suggestions?

I would presume that you have read the usual collection of travel writings of famous writers, and some infamous personalities. The "in the footsteps of..." books would be retracing that paths others took in the past ?
