By reader request, a destination piece about Yosemite National Park. Be aware that I've gone conservative with my recommendations in this post. Your mileage can and will vary--if you're able to hike to the top of Half Dome--rock on with your bad self! Also, comment and tell me about it! I haven't done that hike since I was in the 8th grade and I'd love to know what it's like nowadays.

My Problem With Yosemite, Part 1

Also--got a destination you want me to cover? A specific type of travel? Comment on the blog or here on LJ, and I'll do my best to hook you up.

Hope so. I know Hawaii experienced a boom in gay travel when they did.

from eTurbo News:

Tourism officials in California hope that gays from around the country will opt to get married in sunny California, infusing money into the fiscally-challenged state.

Do you think the legalization of gay marriages in CA will, in fact, be a substantial boon to tourism?

Let's wrap up Beach Week with a stadium by the sea. Today's Fields of Dreams post on The World on Wheels: San Diego's PETCO Park ranks as just a truly average stadium but on the West Coast that's good enough to be 2nd best: http://tinyurl.com/2bjfqcl

The LA Times, my local paper now that I've moved, reports that Los Angeles may institute a new hotel tax. Meanwhile, Portland, one of my favorite cities, has the lowest taxes on visitors of the 50 major city destinations in the U.S.A. Is this proposed L.A. tax really a good idea?

Beach Week on The World on Wheels! Our most popular video, according to our visitors, is in this report. If you're coming to Southern California for the beaches, this is the best one: http://tinyurl.com/y8b8tts
