As we continue Beach Week on The World on Wheels, we're reminded that not every beach is on an ocean: http://tinyurl.com/29quzl6

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream! Beat the heat with a tour of some of our favorite ice cream parlors in today's edition of Road Food on The World on Wheels: http://tinyurl.com/32mvhsr

Great rate for Napa Valley/Sonoma. Our favorite hotel in the area, the Flamingo Resort...a perfectly preserved 1950's "Vegas" style retro resort...has a $99 weekday rate that includes tickets to the Sonoma County Fair. Use the promo code "GRAPE" when making reservations: http://tinyurl.com/274qvn5 .

Update on proposed photographic essay book on Route 66 - the Mojave Experience:
In just 10 days, I have 18 "backers" (including the Canadian Route 66
Association) and have $882 pledged of a $3000 goal to create a
photographic essay book on the people who live and work on Route 66
where it passes through the Mojave Desert (California). I still have 31
days to raise the balance, won't you help me too? You can make a pledge
of $1.00 or more here , on Kickstarter.com . If you find this project worthy, please share this message with your network.
Thank you,

The Angels called it Chavez Ravine, the Dodgers call it home. Today on The World on Wheels Fields of Dreams series, it's Dodger Stadium: http://tinyurl.com/26npb6p

Dear Route 66 Enthusiast:
My name is Kevin Wong and I am a professional travel and landscape photographer who lives in Joshua Tree, California. My business, Mojave Desert Excursions provides guided photo opportunity tours in and near the Mojave National Preserve and I often travel along Route 66 where it passes through the Mojave Desert.

This week, I launched a funding campaign on Kickstarter.com
for a photographic essay book on the lives and faces of those who live on or
near the segment of Route 66 that passes through the Mojave Desert (Ludlow,
Amboy, Cadiz, Chambless, Essex, Goffs and Needles). I will also interview those
that work on the road, the tourists that travel the road, and the passionate
people that preserve and promote Route 66. This project will cost $3,000 and it
was selected by Kickstarter for its project vision and for the quality of reward
gifts. Yes, as a pledge patron you will receive a reward gift for each level of
pledge! There are only 45 days open for this project, so don't delay...please
make a pledge now and send me on the road to record the lives and faces
on "Route 66 - the Mojave Experience". You can make a pledge of $1.00 or more by clicking here. If you find this project inspiring and worthy, please forward this post to your friends and networks. I am open to any and all recommendations and
suggestions to this project.

Thank you,
Kevin Wong

Next up in our Fields of Dreams series on The World on Wheels, one of the oldest professional baseball stadiums still in use. It's not in Boston and it's not in Chicago but it turns 70 years old next year: http://tinyurl.com/2f6oav4

Here's something different: take a video tour of the Downtown LA art scene in the company of Crimebo, Esotouric's very own crime clown.

Crimebo also co-hosts the occasional Pasadena Confidential crime bus tour
