Route 66 Week starts right now at The World on Wheels. We're doing an in-depth look at the relatively unknown western portion of the road going through Southern California. We start off with a trip report at http://tinyurl.com/yam5d8n .

Thank you. No need to be a fisherman...those trout live in a spot that's illegal to fish from anyway. The big activity is to feed them. The Nevada side was kind of down & out while we were there, but it was at the very peak of the economic downturn last year, so hopefully better times are ahead. I don't want to sound like it was a bummer of a trip...on the contrary, warts & all, it's a great place to visit.

Darryl, you have evoked the forlorn nature of Nevada's down-and-out side perfectly. I love the little stories you tell (such as the one about the bartender), and although I am no fisherman, I like the incredible photo of trout in your story.
