Carmelita By the Lake, is a luxury boutique style, executive 6 bedroom, 4 full bath cottage rental. We are located on Maple Lake, part of a three (3) chain lake in the heart of Haliburton Highland, Ontario. Maple Lake is perhaps the prettiest lake in the region and the safest swimming lake for kids in the Haliburton Highlands. Our dock area can accommodate your boat and your float plane can also land at our dock.

Carmelita By the Lake is 2.5 hours north of Toronto, 4 hours from Ottawa, 45 minutes to Huntsville, Bracebridge and Muskoka. Dorset and Minden is even closer. We guarantee this is the finest cottage rental to be found in the area. Our cottage rental cost each individual based on 12, a rate of $38.00 per day. Where in the region can you find this calibre of a property at this price point.

We are located close to many attractions such as Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve, Haliburton Forest Wolf Centre, Walking on a Cloud Canopy Tour, Sir Sam's ski hill, Dorset Lookout and world reknown Algonquin Park. Haliburton is known for our large artist community with many artist studios, hiking and snowmobile trails and a winery, Moon Shadows Estate Winery. We also have an airport, Stanhope airport nearby for our pilot guests.

Our 6 rooms consist of three (3) queen beds, 2 double and one room with two twin beds. Two rooms have TV, DVD, and fireplace. Each rooms comes with CD clock radio. During the Fall and Winter we have a B&B operation and within each room you will find robes and slippers for each guest. There is a total of three (3) HD satellite TV on the premises.

We have put together a relaxing, comfortable, luxurious property for the individuals who are looking for quality and who understand that only a certain amount of people can comfortable fit into a space and still keep the high standards required by our guests.

We provide high speed internet for the individual(s) that needs to be in touch with work or family, or just needs to be connected.

You can see more about us at:

The Guest Lounge is equipped with a large screen HD satellite TV, DVD, CD player, Blu-Ray player, VCR and a surround sound for everyone's enjoyment and fireplace to cozy up on those chilly nights. Utilize the paddle boat touring Maple Lake or use one of our many bicycles to get to know the neighbourhood. We provide a hot tub year round. There is a jacuzzi tub in The Bogart Loft.

A well appointed kitchen that includes all the amenities to be found in a fully equipped high end kitchen, including an espresso machine and all the regular items to be found in an executive kitchen. The executive chef in you will be extremely impressed! A cooler sits on the back deck (during the summer) with the BBQ and we have picnic baskets should you decide to pack a picnic and explore.

We do not provide linens, pillows or towels, but can provide a linen and towel www.carmelitabythelake.comservice for $95.00

There's no Doubt that Canada is one of the most Beautiful Countries in the world! From the Shores of Newfoundland to the Mountains in British Columbia, Canada has the most spectacular scenery on the planet. As far as Year Round Activities, Canada Has it ALL,  with our 4 seasons making it all possible. Not the same boring weather all year, We Change it up, keeping it interesting, making it the perfect place to visit...All Year Round! Fresh Air, Fresh Water, Friendly People, what more could anyone want. I know the answer, to Visit the Owen Sound Area and Georgian Bay and stay right here at Kelly's Inn, Centrally Located to Everything in Grey County. Great Food, Great Place to Stay, and Great Hosts...Now you've got it all :)

A friend called last night to remind me that this is the last week we can see the giant terracotta Chinese warriors at the ROM. I'm passing along that warning, and she and I will see the show this week (and we won't get any snow!).

Future Brand just released the initial version of its annual Country Brand Index. Canada snagged #1 thanks in part to the Winter Olympics.

(BTW the rest of the top 10:
2 Australia
3 New Zealand
4 USA
5 Switzerland
6 Japan
7 France
8 Finland
9 United Kingdom
10 Sweden

Bottom three: Zimbabwe, Iran, Pakistan. I guess that means North Korea and Somalia can breathe a sigh of relief.)

This weekend is the national health fair in Toronto. I went last year and had a delightful time. There was delicious vegetarian food, cooking lessons, I took a yoga class, bought some hand cream that is better than anything in the stores, and the free samples were fun! :} If you have not gone to this then you should!
