The figure of 3.3 million is for China as a country. There is just no way that Tibet could handle that number considering that it is a seasonal destination and the infrastructure it has. Whether that number is good for the country or not - the matter is debatable. Debatable for any country for that matter.

Just learned that 3.3 million tourists visited Tibet in July, a 22% jump over the previous year. Is this really good for Tibet, or only for China?

China offers amongst the most diversity in culture. The extreme western part - Xinjiang is probably one of the most fascinating for the person who loves to follow historic trails and experience culture. Combine Xinjiang (Sunday Bazaar in Kashgar) along with Central Asia Silk Road countries like Uzbekistan, Kyrghyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Anybody interested in knowing more about tourist sites and how to go through this region may look up at: www.bestway.com or you may send me an email and I will try and assist.

Hi,

Am planning to be in Shanghai in June for the ALTM. ( My first visit to China!) Anyone visited the Expo lately? is it easy to get to the venue from downtown hotels?

Any advice will be appreciated.
regards
Nayaz

Next time you're in Shanghai, consider a great day-trip alternative to Suzhou: the ancient, Venice-like "water town" of Zhujiajiao. Read about it in today's Tripatini blog post.
