A travel agent member has a query about the best cruise ships for dancing. If you'd like to reply, kindly do not reply on this comment wall but instead click here. Thanks!

"I've got some clients interested in a cruise so they can dance the nights away. Anyone have opinions on which ships might be best? (They do NOT want a group dance cruise.) Thanks."

Again, please reply at this link only.

hat's exactly right: There are so many fewer cabins available out of NYC that it's easier for cruise lines to fill them all. Meanwhile, I just read an AP report that cruise ship volume was up 60% between 2005 and 2009 in New England, and that this upward trend continues. I wonder to what extent these ships are drawing passengers from other parts of the country, a la Cruise West in the Northwest.

Another reason for the NY/Bermuda cruises to be fuller is based on numbers. In the 90s, Bermuda only allowed one cruise line to sail their with limited stops. They had to use two different ports on each sailing. With time, they have allowed additional cruise lines in, but it is still a coveted destination with strong limits imposed.

I don't think it is in terms of numbers of passengers. There are fewer cruises like these going out of NYC than FL, and a large population in the NYC area who enjoy the ease of cruising without the need for a flight.

There are few ships sailing the NY/Bermuda itinerary than there are ships from Miami and Fort Lauderdale sailing to the Caribbean.

Last week I read Tripatini's blog about cruise deals out of Ft Lauderdale & Miami. Today I read that NYC-Bermuda cruises are full up. Why would NYC-Bermuda be so much more appealing than, say, Ft Lauderdale - Caribbean?

Picture yourself on a beautifully refurbished Cruiser, slowly gliding up a river fringed by palm trees. You pass by sleepy little villages with their distinct mud huts with straw roofs, the sound of drums slowly rising from the horizon when the sun sets over a landscape of inspiring proportions. Where is this? You may ask...

Starting in Dakar the vibrant capital of Senegal and taking a quick trip up to Saint Louis, the Jazz Capital of West Africa, you embark on an unforgettable few days on this 'Cruise through Culture' holiday idea. Stopping off at the sleepy villages mentioned above, you will have the opportunity to meet the local communities along the way and learn about their cultures and ways of life.

Ships from Florida ports sailing on a Western Caribbean itinerary call at Cozumel, sometimes Progreso, etc. on the Yucatan Peninsula. That applies to New Orleans and Galveston-based vessels as well And there are a lot of them.Ships sailing from California ports hit Puerta Vallerta, Cabo and Acapulco. I suggest you go on line to individual cruise line websites: Carnival, NCL, etc., and key in Mexico. You will get a list of ships calling at those ports.
