I'd like to raise awareness of a special fundraising trip that taking place in late February/early March. South America specialist Vaya Adventures is partnering with Chile-based Patagonia Adventure Expeditions on a special trip to the Aysen region of Chilean Patagonia, an area that is threatened by a massive dam project that would significantly impact the nature and human livelihoods of the region. The trip will trek through areas that would be flooded by the dams and raft down one of the rivers where the dams would be built. Proceeds will benefit International Rivers, one of the environmental organizations leading the campaign against the project. For more on the issue and the trip, please see my blog post on the topic.

I welcome travel writers to visit Balcones at Majagual, our eco-resort near San Juan del Sur in Nicaragua. We live in harmony with our jungle preserve, where the monkeys watch us eating breakfast.

I run an ecotourism directory: http://www.eco-tropicalresorts.com, and have some very interesting lodges listed. Eco Paraiso in Yucatan is part of a turtle hatching program. La Casa Del Caballo Blanco is doing some amazing things workting with the Belizian government in rehabbing the local wild birds. The Black Sheep Inn in Ecuador is one of the most "eco" lodges I know of. Feel free to visit my site and email me for more information. Lise
