Pet Lovers, You Can't Miss Magnificat, Italy's Top Cat Fair in Rome On Nov 20-21

Persians, Siberians, Siamese, Abyssinians, British, Burmese, Norwegian Wood, Russian and the rare American Curl sphinxes will be among the 500 pedigree cats of 200 different breeds from all over the world gathering at the Fiera di Roma on November 20-21 for the 10th edition of the Magnificat cat show. This year’s slogans will be “VIC”, Very Important Cat and “All breeds lead to Rome”. As well as the feline beauty competition “Mister Gatto 2010” for pedigree cats there will be prizes for the best moggy, both short- and long-haired, in the “I’m bringing my friend” section open to the public. Magnificat Show is one of the most important national event and one of the main cat shows in Europe with a 9,000 sq. meters exhibition space. There will be plenty of space dedicated to stands selling sector-related products with a broad assortment of items and veterinary products. But there will also be many occasions for meetings, debates, and seminars about our fascinating four-legged friends. The Fair will feature an adoption zone and an area for kids with shows, games, and other funny initiatives.

Magnificat will be held at Fiera di Roma. Address: 1555, Via Portuense. Saturday 10:30am-8pm, Sunday 10am-7pm. Fiera di Roma can be reached by train. The FR1 departs form Tiburtina, Ostiense and Trastevere stations, get off at “Nuova Fiera di Roma” stop.

Hike the Inca Trail with 0 impact on your wallet

How can you hike the Inca Trail for free? If you bring 7 paying ($650 USD each) friends (or enemies, your choice), you hike with 0 impact on your wallet. Must book by Dec. 31, 2010. (because we want your deposit before the end of the year)
Only valid for hikes in April & May, 2011 (because that's when it's most convenient for us!)

What if you don't have 7 friends? Or friends who are employed? Well, not to worry. If you only have 4,5, or 6 paying friends, we feel sorry for you, but you can still come for half price. That's only $325 USD.

4-Day Hike Only. Starts and ends in Cusco, Peru.
We provide:
camping equipment, porters, guides, moleskin and meals on the trail
Hike ends with a grand, guided tour of Machu Picchu (if you're still breathing)
and we get you back to Cusco where we deposit you at your hotel.

This deal works best if you are fit. (or at least under the illusion that you are fit and have 7 wealthy friends who think they are fit!)
Adios Adventure Travel 4-Day Inca Trail
(we offer other trips and dates for traditional tours to South America)

Winter Hasn’t Arrived Yet But A Permanent Ice-skating Rink Has!

A permanent ice skating rink is now available to Romans and tourists in downtown Rome, in Piazza Mancini.

After years of forced out-of-town trips to the ice skating facilities of Mentana and Marino, finally Rome got her own rink.

Axel is 3,000 sq meters covered structure with an Olympic-size track open daily from 10 am to midnigt, with 2-hour skating shifts. It has a restaurant, a specialized shop and a fitness space accommodating dance lessons and a gym. It also offers ice skating classes. If you don’t have your own ice skates you can rent them on the spot.

If you’re craving for cold temperatures and an alternative way to work out, Axel is the place!

Rome Zoo’s Lemurs Happily Await To Be Fed By Your Kids On Sunday 24!
www.buzzinrome.com on

Pines, bamboo and baskets filled with fruits, honey and pine nuts, this is the special meal your kids can prepare, assisted by the Bioparco’s guardians, for the Rome zoo’s lemurs on Sunday 24 from 10am to 4pm. This activity is included in the entrance fee, as well as other initiatives, such as face-painting to become your favorite animal, or clowns and jugglers distributing info about lemurs. These animals are typical of Madagascar and since 2010 was declared by the United Nations the Biodiversity year, Rome’s zoo wants to devote two days to this beautiful African island, symbol of biodiversity.

Feeding lemurs, the Bioparco intends to give awareness to kids and parents about the fight of deforestation and the risk of extinction for many animal species, providing key information on how to help preserving biodiversity. Bioparco is one of the oldest zoos in Europe, founded in 1911. It currently hosts nearly 1.000 animals, belonging to over 200 different species. Mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds live in one of the most charming botanical gardens in Rome, with more than 1.000 trees, some of which are very rare and very old.

Rome’s zoo is in 1, Piazzale del giardino zoologico and can be easily reached by tram n. 19, stop ‘Bioparco’ or buses 3, 52, 53, 926, 217, 360, 910.
