Mosel Valley near Hahn Airport low-cost Ryanair hub.

My Europe Base offers affordable short and long-stays with a pretty apartment house between river and vineyards in the heart of Europe - and the local bus goes to Hahn Airport with cheap flights to 50 destinations from Morocco to Finland!

Danke, Sigi and Evelyn. It's such a pleasure -- especially in this era of Tripadvisor -- to get information from people who really know what they're talking about.

There's enough to see in and around Berlin or Frankfurt to stay in either city. My favorite part of Berlin is around Potsdamer Platz -- like Times Square with lots of nightlife, shopping and enegry. In Frankfurt, walking through the old town, with its medieval buildings, and along the riverfront, is always interesting. Take a foodie break on Fressgasse (eating street), a pedestrian passage lined with the best of the wursts. Both cities have fabulous museums, and in Berlin you can take a guided tour in a Trabi, the often-maligned car produced in the former East Germany that now is a fashionable vintage model. Get a Eurail pass before leaving North America, and go anywhere.

I just found out about this deal of up to 50% off from Air Berlin: "For three days only, starting October 25 at 6pm (EST) and ending October 28 at 6pm (EST) airberlin is offering up to 50% off its already low fares from Florida to Europe. In addition, passengers can take advantage of additional discounts on airberlin’s extensive European network. Destinations include London, Helsinki, Palma de Mallorca from its Dusseldorf hub and via airberlin’s hub in Berlin passengers can easily connect to Frankfurt/Main, Moscow, Oslo, Stockholm and Gothenberg."

Sorry, my previous message was cut somehow. Here's where you can see all about my book Paris Movie Walks

Guten Tag All, Michael here, a new member in Tripatini. I'm a journalist/author/blogger who currently live in Paris. I am the author of the guide book Paris Movie Walks-10 Guided Walking Tours in the City of Lights and am now blogging about easy hiking (as an activity you and the entire family can undertake on your next vacation, perhaps). As a native German, I can answer a question or two you may have about Germany and as a long time resident of Paris, I can also claim to be of good help for tips, etc. Please do check out my blog: http://easy-hiker.eu/2010/07/12/why-germany-six-reasons/ and see what my book is all about

Good advice, Evelyn. But then, that's no surprise. http://www.tripatini.com/forum/topics/frankfurt-on-monday-places-to...
