Mexico has a surprisingly good (and cheap!) dental system. I don't have any benefits with my job in Canada so seeing a Toronto dentist was out of the question for me. When I went to visit my sister in Mexico last summer she suggested seeing a dentist in Mexico City. I was more than a little hesitant at first but after meeting the Dr. and recognizing the clean professionalism in the office I went for it. She found two cavities and scheduled me right in the next day to fill them. Everything (including consultation, cleaning and the fillings) cost only 500 pesos, which is like $50 Cdn. I'm glad I went for it.

It's vacation time, what's the worst that could happen? Hopefully, a mild case of the runs...but sometimes worse. This week's Travel Tip on The World on Wheels, we offer some strategies to keeping yourself safe and secure while away from home. I think you might find at least one or two of these suggestions new to you: http://tinyurl.com/6t2m5vl

"In the wake of the 2010 Bedbug Epidemic the number of bedbug reports for 2011 (January 1—September 1) shattered 2010 totals by more than 660%." That's from a Raveable.com survey.

How can hotels put an end to this p.r. disaster in a cost-effective way?

Our current Read of the Week, Travel iClinic, is a great resource for finding out the health situation in your destination and what to do beforehand.

I agree with Cheryl Ann. It's important to think about health issues when planning a trip. I've learned a lot over many years of traveling and am happy to share my ideas on my blog Staying Healthy On the Road. Recently I covered a new Hangover Remedy, and I've also written about "the trots," "preventing dehydration," and other topics that are important to travelers.
