Hi Everyone!

I am a huge fan of Japanese culture, movies, traditions, events, anime and especially their language. During my first visit to Japan, I noticed that locals don't bother to learn foreign languages, especially English. Even people usually debate their either they should use Nihon or Nippon for official purpose.

Actually, locals don't call their country with the word 'Japan'. Yes, locals use the word Nihon or Nippon to refer the name of their country. By the way, both words are allowed to use for the formal purpose by the Government of Japan. However, I am here to discuss if the Japanese don't use Japan then from where this word came from? I found this article very informative to explore the truth behind this mystery. Withal, I am still confused about many things. Likewise, how the meaning of Nihon, Nippon and Japan could be similar in Japanese grammatical terms.

I would also like to know your views how Marco Polo played his role to take the word 'Zipangu' from South Chinese people about this land of the rising sun.
