This is a small and little known shallow soda lake between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru. Its a designated ramsar site(2005) and an important bird area with 450 species of birds. Its the only known breeding ground for the white pelicans.

The landscape around the lake is dramatic with occasional volcanic hills and rock outcrops and an acacia forest on the southern tip. Most of the lake shoreline borders the scenic and wildlife rich Soysambu Conservancy.

Other attractions near the lake includes the hotsprings that flow freely into the lake on the Southern end of the Lake. Dr Leakeys Kariandusi Archeological site is very near the lake.

Next time you plan a trip to Kenya, dont miss out this jewel.
