Daryl -- I've been updating what's happening in NYC with 4-6 posts daily on my NYC on the Cheap website, including where to volunteer and how to apply for a FEMA grant.  www.nyconthecheap.com  We New Yorkers are tough, resourceful, and kind in emergencies.

Mt. Marcy Summit in One Day
Photojournalist will be hiking the highest point (5,344 ft) in New York State.
 
 - Mt. Marcy, September 21-23, 2012.
 
 Trip will include staying at the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) bunkhouse at Adirondack Loj, and traversing the 7-mile Van Hoevenberg Trail, High Peaks Wilderness Area, New York, gaining 3600 feet of elevation gain and returning in the same day. The journey is steep, rocky and demanding. 
 
 Seeks assignment detailing 1st person account.
 
Reviews possible of personally owned equipment including  Katadyn Hiker Pro Microfilter, Jansport Katahdin 40 Internal Frame Pack , Platypus Big Zip II Hosers 3 - 3 liter/100 oz., Smartwool(tm) socks, or assigner supplied test product (if received prior to departure).
