Pennsylvania

One of America's most historic states, it ranges from the urban flair (and grit) of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to the bucolic beauties of the Poconos, Dutch Country, and Bucks County. And for history, don't you dare miss Philly and Gettysburg!

It's All Star day. We wrap up Baseball Week's travel reports on The World on Wheels today with this trip to Philadelphia to take in a Phillie's game. Along the way, we also visit the city's historic sites and eat some cheesesteak: http://http://tinyurl.com/y7cguwd

Moving up the list, this week on The World on Wheels Fields of Dreams, we get to number 6. It's the home of arguably the best starting rotation in baseball, Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia. Our updated look is online now: http://tinyurl.com/26c3w99

Please let us know when the article about the Lukins Steel tour is published. I would like to read that.

I'm covering The Lukins Steel Historic District (PA) tour 23 June. Founded by a Quaker family in the early 19th century, Lukins Steel created a socially advanced Company Town. The company still exits today.

This week our featured most popular blog post is the recently published account of a trip to Gettysburg -- well worth a read!

Lunch with folks from Lancaster today -- a reminder of how dramatically the museum and gallery scene(s) there has expanded.

My children and I are going downtown to Philadelphia's Italian Food festival tomorrow. It is so much fun. Have you done it?

Anyone want to make money and have fun promoting PA destinations with advanced QR coding and technologies?

No worries Allie! We'll make sure everyone gets a great Civil War 150 visit in PA - in Gettysburg and beyond! :-)

Thank you, Ms. O'Donnell. I visited the new Visitors Center shortly after it opened three years ago. It is as spectacular as you say it is and I will certainly visit it again. I would not have guessed that it is managed by a separate group, and I was saddened that this great museum might have been closed for the sesquicentennial.
