Sally, a former boyfriend used to take me to Caribbean resorts where we'd go swimming after dinner. Warm water is very romantic! We wouldn't swim, really, but he often picked me up the way a bridegroom picks up a bride, because its easier to pick up people in water than on dry land, and he would kiss me like that. I remember an evening when the sea was very calm and there was a moon out, and that was at Malliowhana on Anguilla. We had a few evenings like that at Curtain Bluff in Antigua, too, and every night we did this in our plunge pool at Ladera, a St. Lucia resort where the rooms have only three walls and it is the most romantic place I have ever seen. No pictures!!!

For February I will be doing a 'romantic' feature on my website: www.foodandtravel.com.au

I am interested in romantic foods, trivia, places for lovers, events - anything that is of interest. Pictures too if  you have good ones.

I'd LOVE to hear from anyone who want to share!

BUCUTI & TARA BEACH RESORTS HONORED WITH PRESTIGIOUS
“GOLDEN TULIP HOTEL OF THE YEAR” AWARD

Golden Tulip Hospitality Group chooses Bucuti as one of the twelve best hotels worldwide

EAGLE BEACH, Aruba – November 8, 2010 – Bucuti & Tara Beach Resorts, Aruba’s premier resort for couples, is proud to announce that it is a recipient of the Golden Tulip Hospitality Group’s "Golden Tulip Hotel of the Year" for the Americas. The prestigious award is based on the results of the organization’s Quality Assurance Programme, which relies on a yearly mystery guest visit evaluating the hotel’s standards in terms of quality, maintenance, cleanliness, services and brand identity.

The principle of the Golden Tulip “Hotel of the Year” Awards is to have not more than one hotel rewarded by brand and by region, which enables the Golden Tulip Hospitality Group to reward the very best hotels in its chain. Bucuti was one of only twelve hotels to receive this esteemed award for 2010. The audit was conducted by BDRC, the current largest UK independent research consultancy firm, leading in hotel and hospitality industry research.

“We are deeply honored to be recognized among such an elite group of establishments,” said Bucuti’s President and CEO Ewald Biemans. “The Golden Tulip Hotel of the Year award is a tribute to the dedication and professionalism that our associates exhibit day in and day out. A resort can only achieve this level of recognition by having a top-notch team committed to providing an outstanding experience for each and every guest.” Bucuti has been affiliated with Golden Tulip since opening in 1987.

An award-winning, owner-managed resort, Bucuti has also been recognized by TripAdvisor as one of the top 10 most romantic resorts in the world and has a longstanding commitment to providing an unmatched vacation experience for couples. Bucuti’s beach has been recognized for 20 years as one of the top 100 dream beaches of the world, and in 2009 the resort was included in Modern Bride’s list of the top 50 honeymoon destinations. Bucuti is also the recipient of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences’ coveted Five Star Diamond Award for 2011. Additionally, the resort has been officially certified Green Globe 21 since 2000 and ISO 14001 since 2003, making one of the greenest resorts in the Caribbean.

About Bucuti & Tara Beach Resorts: Bucuti & Tara Beach Resorts is Aruba’s premier boutique resort for couples. The award winning, owner managed resort caters to adults only and has been named one of the world’s most romantic resorts by TripAdvisor. Located on the white-powder sands of Eagle Beach, designated as one of the “Dream Beaches of the World,” Bucuti offers 104 guestrooms, suites and penthouse suites; a freshwater infinity pool; and the Intermezzo Spa, among other amenities. The resort, which is certified Green Globe 21, ISO 14001-2008 and ISO 9001, is a leader in sustainable tourism throughout the world and has been recognized by notable organizations such as the Caribbean Hotel Association, American Express and the International Hotel and Restaurant Association for its environmentally responsible hotel operations. Bucuti is actively involved in a variety of environmental initiatives on the island including monthly resort-sponsored beach clean-ups, the Turtugaruba sea turtle protection group and Donkey Sanctuary Aruba. Bucuti is also the recipient of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences’ coveted Five Star Diamond Award for 2011. The resort is also TAG Approved®. Report on eTurboNews about sex and travel: "A lot of people who are nice and proper here, do things more out of line when they are away," says a co-owner of the Toronto nightclub Wicked. They're doing those things in public, and they're even doing them at public monuments, which has gotten some people arrested.

"A summer-sex survey done by the condom maker Durex in 2006 found that people on vacation are most likely to have sex in a hotel room, but will also engage in amore in the pool, at the beach and on the hotel balcony.

"In Men's Health magazine, an article discussing the top reader-submitted vacation spots for sex included the Grand Canyon and a New York ferry."

Never thought of that -- and I grew taking that ferry.

"In Britain, a phenomenon called "dogging" has seen a rise of people having sex and watching people have sex in public parks."

The authors of Sex and Tourism: Journeys of Romance, Love and Lust have found that most of this sex is with the partners people are already traveling with. So on balance, is this a good thing?
