I'm so excited to be taking the train from Churchill to Winnipeg, Manatoba next month.

It will, though, be my longest ever journey by train (I loved previous journeys from both Gaspe and Halifax to Montreal, but they clock in at less than 24 hours onboard).

Has anyone here done that journey from Churchill? Does it get really cold at any point on the train? I'm thinking I should take a thermal blanket in case the train gets stranded with no power at that time of year; it could be quite scary! Are the food offerings on board good and reliable?

Are there any parts of the journey with particular stunning views to look out for?

Can't wait to travel!

Thanks for any tips.

Sounds great! Keep us posted. I love travelling by train. No tips though, as I've never done that route.
I'm jealous, Paul. There, I've said it.

I can't answer your questions, but they are important ones. Want to re-post them on the Ask A Travel Expert widget? I think more people -- especially people who've taken trains in Canada off-season but aren't in the trains group -- will see them that way.
