4th of July: Celebrate "Fireworks + Artworks" on the Whidbey Art Trail in Washington State

Celebrate "Fireworks + Artworks"
on Whidbey Island for the Fourth of July Holiday

Whidbey Art Trail throws open its doors with a red, white and blue welcome

Whidbey Island, Washington, USA. June 19, 2012 - WhidbeyArtTrail.com

Whidbey Island is a popular destination for the Fourth of July holiday. While fireworks, barbecues, buckets of mussels and evening sails across Penn Cove are all part of traditional island activities, there are now more than two dozen creative ways to celebrate the American spirit.

The 27 artist studios of the Whidbey Art Trail will be welcoming visitors throughout the holiday week for the first annual Fireworks + Artworks event. Stop in and see what new creations are underway. You may find a potter throwing a new vessel, a painter placing the final strokes on a painting, or a glassmaker twirling wands in a hot fire. And you may discover your own inner artisan as you take inspiration from the work of the Whidbey Art Trail artists.

On a holiday where Made in America is an honored theme, Whidbey Island artists give it special meaning. Visitors can take home an island-made clay pot, glass vase, silky handpainted scarf, bottle of wine, or other special remembrance of the studio experience.

Pick up a Whidbey Art Trail brochure on the Mukilteo and Coupeville ferries, and at visitor centers, and retail stores throughout the island. Or download a Whidbey Art Trail map from the website.

Many studios are open 7 days a week in summer. Please call ahead if appointment is requested per brochure. Numbers and locations are available on the map.

Look for the bright yellow Whidbey Art Trail signs along island roads.
