Ha Long Bay was officially recognized for the first time as a world natural heritage site by UNESCO in 1994 and a world heritage site for its geomorphologic, geological, cultural and historical values for the second time in 2000. In 2012, Ha Long Bay has been officially become one of the world’s new seven wonders of nature by UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
