Salzburg, Austria, a very old river city beneath the Bavarian alps, is know for many things in addition to its spectacular setting, iconic architecture, schnitzel, schnaps, strudel and coffee mit schlag. It is the home of the Mozarteum (and many other things named for its favorite son, among them a main platz, the airport, and some very special candy), the Salzburg Music Festival, the Salzburg Global Seminar located at the Schloss Leopoldskron (and the backdrop for "The Sound of Music").
