Temple of Literature Introduction

Influenced by the Confucianism from the China in the past, The Temple of Literature was built in 1070 to honor Confucius (a great teacher from China).

The Temple of Literature has 5 courtyard, the "5" number represents 5 basic elements which are

• Metal
• Wood
• Fire
• Water
• Earth 

The five elements are said forming this world.

One of the most unique work here is the Khue Van Pavilion (Pavilion of Constellation)

With the name of the brightest star, the work represents the wish of all people to develop the education in order to develop the country.

On the top of the Pavilion, you can see the combination of the circle and the square.

• the circle means the sky/ the sun
• the square means the earth

It also means yin and yang. With the harmony of yin and yang, that country can develop in a good way.

  From April to October: 7:30am to 5:30pm
  From November to March: 7:00am to 5:00pm

  Adult: 30,000VND (~ US$1.3)
  Student: 15,000VND (~US$0.7) (Student ID required)

  As Temple of Literature is a formal historical site, visitors should pay serious attention to the dress code as visitors need to be respectable.

  In detail, no hat, shorts, mini skirt or tank-top…when being in worshipping/sanctuary area.
