An important and world famous city of India-Anand

Anand, a very famous place in India, houses the world famous brand Amul. The factories of Amul are also open to the visitors to witness the milk production process. Anand is located in the Anand district of Gujarat. This city of Gujarat is world renowned for Amul (Anand Milk Federation Union Limited). A very important place in Indian Map, Anand is the milk capital of India. Anand has undergone huge changes from the past. The milk revolution which was started right after the independence was the livelihood for over thousands of people. Anand, which literally means bliss, is the source of happiness to many dwellers. Apart from Amul, National Diary Development Board of India, Anand Agricultural University and also the very famous Vallabh Vidhayanagar are situated here. The rapid economic growth from the past few years has made Anand a quite popular place to visit. Amul factories are its assets and the whole region is now a popular tourist destination. So reaching Anand from the airport is not a hectic task. Well, if you take taxi sometimes you have to negotiate. Anand has its own railway station. However, it is not fully connected to the rest of the country. But you will get express trains from major cities like Kolkata, Delhi, Madras, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram. The interstate buses run pretty well. So, even if you want to reach from other parts of Gujarat, you will reach Anand at an affordable cost.

 

When you are exploring the city, the main attraction is of course the Amul factories. Amul Chocolate factory is very much open to the tourists. A must-visit place for the chocolate lover. The fantastic aroma of cocoa and milk is wonderfully inviting. Amul Diary Cooperative Museum, the sketches and photography inside the museum depict the milk revolution in India and the making of Amul, the world-renowned brand. Milk pasteurisation process is also on display here. Swaminarayan Mandir is one of the huge attractions in Anand. A six-storey building temple houses idols of different deities.You can also visit Dakor which is about 35 km from Anand. Dakor is famous for its sacred Shree Ranchhodraji temple and is widely visited by pilgrimages throughout the year.   

 

For visitors, Amul factories are open throughout the year but winters are the best time to explore the city. The calm and pleasant weather is best to enjoy Gujarat. Amul is an apt place to take your child to and make him or her witness the milk pasteurisation process.
