The "Peaks of Otter" is certainly one of the great stops along the Blue Ridge Parkway...between Natural Bridge and Roanoke. The Peaks of Otter Lodge has recently re-opened under new management (Delaware North) and the hike to the top of Sharp Top offers breathtaking views. The Historic town of Bedford is only about ten minutes away with The National D-Day Memorial (Bedford lost citizens per-capita at D-Day), quaint shop, art galleries and studios and nice restaurants, and Thomas Jefferson's private retreat "Poplar Forest" less than 30 minutes from the Parkway.
