Best Itinerary For Golden Triangle Tour With Khajuraho & Varanasi

A Golden triangle tour, comprising of Delhi, Agra & Jaipur, is the most recommended tour for a first-time traveler in India. However, to cover all three sectors of this circuit, one would require at least 6 days. In case you have slightly number of days in hand and want to see more of art, history and culture of India, then why not add some more cultural visits on the Golden Triangle Tour, by combining it with the two famous destinations of Khajuraho & Varanasi! By doing so, you will get to visit three main i.e. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur along with the quaint town of Khajuraho and the ancient city of Varanasi. All these destinations are filled with rich culture and heritage. You will get to visit some of the most significant temples, forts & spiritual palaces, monuments & landmarks on this tour. You will also get to choose for some fun-filled activities in each destinations like rickshaw ride in Delhi, horse cart ride in Agra, elephant ride in Jaipur, a boat ride in Varanasi and also witness some cultural dance performance in Khajuraho. You will get to explore all these cultural activities, rich heritage, spiritual aspects & architecturally superb monuments of India on your first visit itself.

The Golden triangle sector is best covered by road as you get to enjoy the scenic view while being driven between the cities. The driving distance between these cities would not be more than 5 to 6 hours but if you are not comfortable driving for such number of hours on road travel, then you can choose to fly as all three cities are connected by air. However, there are few direct flight options between Delhi & Jaipur and there is one direct flight option between Agra and Jaipur which runs only on Thursdays. Unfortunately Agra does not have a commercial airport like Jaipur and Delhi. The flying time may seem less but you also may want to consider the time starting from your hotel to reach the airport before boarding. In India, you are required to reach the airport minimum 2 hours prior to your departure. Further some may find it a hassle to check-in and check-out of an airport with all the luggage handling. Traveling by road ensures once you are seated in the vehicle with your luggage, you can just get down at your next hotel. Altogether time by flight also adds up to 4-5 hours as by road.

The best routing for Golden Triangle with Khajuraho and Varanasi will be to cover the Golden triangle by road and then fly from Delhi to Khajuraho and then to Varanasi. Delhi is the only city in the Golden triangle circuit, which has a direct flight connection to Khajuraho. There is one direct flight operating between Delhi-Khajuraho and Khajuraho-Varanasi which is the best suitable flight connection for such tours.

The tentative duration of the tour would be to arrive in Delhi first & stay for 2 nights, then drive to Jaipur for another 2 nights, followed by a drive to Agra and spending 1 or 2 nights, depending upon the total number of days you have in hand. Later, drive to Delhi airport to fly to Khajuraho for 2 nights, board a direct fly to Varanasi the next day and spend two nights there, before flying back to Delhi to further connect your international flight for your onward journey. Incase you are visiting other neighboring countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka or Thailand, then you need not book your return flight from Delhi as Varanasi has direct flights to these three countries. Hence, one can plan accordingly.
