Amazing Bhutan Tour – A Road trip from Bagdogra

Bhutan is being endowed with beautiful landscapes and the green lush valleys; Bhutan is one of the most magnificent countries in the world. Breathtaking mountains, serene monasteries, carbon-free air, and the astounding Himalayan views–Bhutan has everything good in stock.

EXPERIENCE BY ROAD FROM BAGDOGRA

I did not want to take a flight to Bhutan for obvious reasons. For many of you, it might sound like a splendid adventure to fly to one of the most dangerous airports, but for me, I wanted to explore by road only. So, finally, we booked the Bhutan Tour from Bagdogra. We flew in from Mumbai to Bagdogra. We had pre-booked our full package from Naturewings Holidays Pvt Ltd and our driver Ugyen was waiting for us with a car at the airport with a happy gesture. The package included a car for the entire duration right from pick up and drop from Bagdogra airport, driver, permit hotels, breakfast, lunch, and sightseeing.

Weather In Bhutan-

In April, the weather is very pleasant and comfortable. It was summer season; we still had to put on our jackets in the night as the atmosphere was a little chilly. The weather during the day was sunny with a clear sky. During the nights, the temperature dropped with windy weather, which made us thankful for carrying our winter jackets along. So always carry good winter clothes while traveling in summer also, as nights are cold and the days are sunny.

Reasons To Visit Bhutan In April-

April is the peak tourist season in Bhutan. The pleasant weather attracts tourists from everywhere on the planet, wanting to witness the sweetness of this country in its full bloom.

Beautiful Places We Visited In Bhutan Tour

The world has few secrets left, and Bhutan is one of them. It is so beautiful that, when you enter the country, you won’t ever desire like leaving it. Mountains, Rivers & monasteries are in abundant numbers.  Look at this list of places that we would surely cherish throughout our lifetime.

  1. Thimphu offers a fascinating glimpse into Bhutanese life. First, we head out to the 169 feet bronze statue of Buddha Dordenma. This Vajra Throne Buddha is in the Kuenselphodrang Nature Park and is one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world. The hilltop location provides a panoramic view of Thimphu and some amazing photoshoot locations.

Prime attractions of Thimphu

  • Buddha Point
  • Takin Zoo
  • Trashi Chie Dzong
  • National Library

  1. Punakha

As you make your way to Punakha, take a pit stop, just before reaching Punakha, and hike your way to Chimmi Lhakang. Chimmi Lhakang, referred to as The Fertility Temple of Bhutan, dedicate to childless couples from all over the world. Couples come here to pray for children and believed to bless with a baby after the visit. Then comes to Punakha Dzong, which is largely Bhutanese architecture, settled at the confluence of Pho Chu and Mo Chu Rivers.  After that, in a matter of 10 minutes, you will find yourself on a short hike to the Suspension Bridge, spanning 160–180m across the river Po Chu and is the longest bridge of Bhutan. The suspension bridge draped with prayer flags all along and provides a panoramic view of the valley.

Prime Attractions of Punakha

  • Punakha Dzong
  • Suspension Bridge
  • Dochula Pass
  • Chimi Lakhang

  1. Paro Make your way to Paro, Unlike urban Thimphu, Paro is a small rustic town on the banks of the Paro Chhu river. We explored its main street on foot. Have a relaxing day at Rinpung Dzong, which is the heart of Bhutanese culture. There is such peacefulness everywhere that you will fall in love with the city. One of the best cities that I have traveled to. I visited many local Bhutanese who are humble and honest people. They would help you in the best way they can and won't ever cheat on you.

A hike up the Tiger's Nest is a 100% must, and trust me, the 2 hours of the hike up, is rewarding. Tiger's Nest, constructed back in 1692, is on a cliff about 3000 feet above Paro Valley and is 10 miles north of Paro. The climb up to the viewpoint will take around 1 1⁄2 hours, and from there you will enjoy a spectacular view of the monastery clinging to the side of the cliff. The views from the top are amazing and the best part was waiting for us. Tiger's Nest will always remain one of my favorite places. You will love every bit of the trek. Once you are back from the trek and had a pleasant lunch, go to your hotel, freshen up quickly and change clothes, and head towards the traditional Bhutanese hot stone water bath. This therapeutic bath will ensure that your body rejuvenated after the strenuous day, and will be one of the highlights of the trip.

Food In Bhutan-

Bhutanese food is unique and has some amazing options for you to try. Some of our top recommendations include momos, Thukpas, Red rice, that you can find at any roadside stand. If you are a foodie and love dumplings, momos then you will find them everywhere in Bhutan. If there is one national dish to eat when touring Bhutan, that is Ema Datshi. Still, one can easily find Indian food there, but we were personally more interested in the local foods.
