Gangtok Darjeeling Package Tour - Explore the breathtaking Himalayan Beauty once again

Gangtok Darjeeling - Two Himalayan Jewels

Some connections are just meant to be, like Mountains and me. In the Himalayas, the first thing that strikes you is the city’s cleanliness. If you plan to take a Gangtok Darjeeling Package Tour, then follow my travel guide and the blog. This Travelogue will help you out in planning a perfect trip. Hills are always the favorite place to explore for me. I had long wanted to visit Darjeeling, so this time I thought of going for a trip for 6n/7d to Gangtok, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong.

Sikkim’s modern capital, Gangtok, is a vibrant hill station with verdant green valleys and misty mountains. If you want to explore this hidden gem of Northeast, then go through the Gangtok travel blog and list down the best places to visit and things to do to make the most of Sikkim’s capital. Ideal for couples, solo travelers, and families, Gangtok is the Buddhist pilgrimage site that is best for devotees, hikers, trekkers, and adventure enthusiasts. The best and most preferred way to reach Gangtok is via railways, the nearest station is New Jalpaiguri. After reaching Gangtok, I took a walk across the city amidst the low clouds which made me fell in love with Gangtok. I was really lucky as the weather was so clear and pleasant and I have seen the mesmerizing view of Kanchenjunga. There were dustbins every few meters; no spitting on roads.

Places to check out in Gangtok City-

MG Road- It is the center of Gangtok town and is a great place to chill out. There are shops, restaurants, and bars on both sides. In the evening, it is the best place to roam.

Rumtek Monastery- Rumtek Monastery is one of the sacred pilgrimage centers for Buddhists. The monastery showcases many sacred paintings, art objects, manuscripts, and religious scriptures.

Tashi View Point- It offers a perfect view of Kanchenjunga snow peaks on a clear day, the view of Sunrise is unforgettable from here.

Where to eat in Gangtok

Most good eateries, cafes, and restaurants are on MG Road where I had the best Sikkim’s food during my trip.

Darjeeling has always been my favorite place since my childhood, that is the reason it connects with me emotionally. Darjeeling is an emotion for me. So after Gangtok, I started for Darjeeling for two nights. Darjeeling, known as Queen of Hill station, is one of the most charming cities. Darjeeling has a lot to offer visitors who are looking for something special. It’s best known for its production of tea. The best part of Darjeeling was going to Tiger Hill to watch the sunrise light up Kanchenjunga. Seeing this sunrise from Tiger Hill is a must-visit and should be on everyone's bucket list. You can take a joy trip from Darjeeling down to Ghum. Darjeeling is famous for tea lovers also, Darjeeling is all about tea. One must check out the tea garden. Darjeeling offers a peaceful landscape, which I loved the most.

Places to check out in Darjeeling:

Mall: Enjoy the leisure time sitting on the wooden plank with hot tea and see local people around.

Nehru Road, Chowrasta Square, Visit a tea plantation, Tea tasting & shopping, Ride ropeway.

Where to eat in Darjeeling?

The dish to try in Darjeeling is tea, momos, Tibetan dumplings. You can have them steamed, fried, or in the soup.

The Glenary’s: I enjoyed the dinner at Glenary. If you are in Darjeeling, you must visit once.

Kunga Restaurant: It is famous for Tibetan food. It’s on Gandhi Road above Nehru Road. They make a veg momo soup filled with a lot of veggies. The glass noodle soup is also famous there.

Keventers: It is known for their English breakfast, burgers, milkshakes, and their outdoor view overlooking Darjeeling. I loved my breakfast there with a beautiful view.

After exploring Darjeeling, I headed towards Kalimpong. Kalimpong is around 50 km on the east side of Darjeeling and is at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level.  It was also a popular trading post, being close to Tibet and the ancient silk route. Kalimpong brings you living a lifetime in every breath. Though Kalimpong does not have a lot to offer in terms of tourist attractions, it definitely is an ideal place to spend time in the lap of nature away from the chaos of the city. Kalimpong is famous for its beautiful monasteries and its famous flower nurseries. The fantastic view of the breathtaking sight of Mt Kanchenjunga and the surrounding forest with are rich in flora and fauna makes it more beautiful.

Shopping in Kalimpong: While in the city definitely buy some cheese. Kalimpong Cheddar cheese is famous worldwide.

Nurseries of Kalimpong:  Two nurseries in Kalimpong, have now become a tourist attraction because of their vast collection of plants. Check out the Pineview and Shaktikunj nurseries.

Durpin Dara:  This is the second hill, between which Kalimpong stands today. On a clear day, the viewpoint offers magnificent views of Tiger Hill, Kanchenjunga, and the Nathula Pass.
