Uttarkashi, the holy city situated along the bank of river Ganga (Bhagirathi). The city is an important base camp of Hindu pilgrims (Chardham Yatra) and trekking & hiking Garhwal Himalayas. The town is also famous for Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, the institute where Bachendri Pal (first Indian lady who scale Mt. Everest) get trained.

Places of Interest near Uttarkashi:

Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM): It is prominent among very few mountaineering Institutes in India. The institute offers various climbing and hiking professional training courses. In 1984 Bachendri Pal gave a new height to the institute.

Kandar Devta Mandir: The temple is 12 kms ahed form the city of Uttarkashi, situated on the hills of Uttarkashi.

Ujeli (constellation of sages): It is neighbourhood tour on the north of Uttarkashi, where many ashrams are located.

Tiloth Power Plant: The power project situated on the banks of Bhagirathi river between Maneri and Tiloth in district Uttarkashi. The Power Station was commissioned in the year 1984.

Maneri Dam: The Dam was constructed for the purpose to divert water into a tunnel which feeds Tiloth Power Plant.

Kuteti Devi temple: The temple is situated around 2 kms form Uttarkashi on a hill called Hari Parwat. The temple was built by son-in-law of Maharaja kota. It is said that the kuteti Devi blessed them in dream and guided to discover three stones, which had heavenly nature.

Joshiyara: Joshiyara: a small village across river Bhagirathi. The village is famous for Kaleshwar Mandir, dedicated to lord Shiva.
