In Time for Mother’s Day: Fort Lauderdale's Cultural and Relaxation Package for Moms and Daughters or as a Girlfriends’ Getaway

In time for Mother’s Day but available through October 1st, Fort Lauderdale, Florida’s cultural and relaxation package is perfect for a couple of women or a few more. I took my mother, who lives in the area to just the NSU museum and on the water taxi, and we had a lovely afternoon.

Mom (Rhea Goldberg) and me on the Water Taxi.

We started with a look at Elizabeth Taylor’s girly “riches” via an NSU Art Museum photography exhibition. Then we enjoyed an all-day Water Taxi pass.  The full package, however, also includes delightful stay at the Riverside Hotel, delectable cuisine and beverages, and shopping! Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District calls it their “Girlfriends & Glamour Getaway,” but I thought was a perfect “Mom and Daughter package,” at least it was perfect for my mom and me.  It is available now through Sunday Oct. 1 on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday. It includes all of the above, with specific fab features, as follows:

  • Tickets to NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. Among its current exhibitions is “Catherine Opie: 700 Nimes Road,” which presents new and recent work by Los Angeles-based artist Catherine Opie, an essential figure in contemporary photography. On view through June 18, the exhibition features photographs taken over the course of six months at the Bel-Air, California residence of the late actress Elizabeth Taylor. Opie photographed rooms, closets, shoes, clothing and jewelry that reveal an indirect, yet deeply intimate portrait of a life defined by wealth and fame. Mom (Rhea Goldberg), Myself, and Carmen Ackerman of Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District.at the NSU
