The Inti Raymi is a festival held every year in Cusco.

The Incas, like many other indigenous peoples around the world,  worshiped the sun, and every 24th of June they held the ”Inti Raymi”, which means ”sun party” in Quechua.  It starts at the temple of the sun, and goes to the main square.  It finishes at Sacsayhuamán. Sacrifices were made during the event. This was done in Inca Times but ended after the empire collapsed. Some people in Cuzco started it again in the 1940′s.  It is now held every year on the 24th of June. this tour can be combined with any of our tours of Machu Picchu, or in other parts of Cuzco or Peru. See our tour here.
