Kailash Manasarovar Tour

Since the beginning of human history billions believe, The Holy Himalaya, where the universe sprang from a place so divine that just a glimpse of it can devour all evil, a palace of the Gods who protect the universe from the clutches of evil, ignorance, arrogance, and delusion. This place, which has been revered as the epicenter of the universe is none other than Kailash Mansarovar.

To the Hindus, Kailash, which means crystal in Sanskrit, is the earthly manifestation of Mt. Meru and the abode of Lord Shiva who with his consort goddess Parvati lives atop the mountain in utmost harmony performing yoga austerities. The Buddhists consider, it as a heaven on earth where saint Padmasambhava gained enlightenment. It is also assumed to be the place where queen Maya was brought to before giving birth to Lord Buddha. To the Bonpos, it is the precious snow mountain or Gang Rinpoche a gigantic mandala that is the epicenter of all Tantric forces. To the Jains it is the mystical mountain of Astapada where the founder Rishabhadeva attained spiritual liberation. In Sikh scriptures, it is believed that the founder Guru Nanak Dev learnt meditation techniques atop the mountain and he is believed to be one of the few people to have ascended the mountain peak.

The unspoiled lake Manasarovar is the source of the four great rivers of Asia--the Indus, the Sutlej, the Brahmaputra and the Karnali (Ganga). It is believed that bathing in the lake and drinking its water cleanses all sins. The Hindu mythology states that the lake was first created in the mind of lord Brahma, hence its name Manasarovar, which is a combination of two Sanskrit words Manas which means mind and Sarovar which means lake.

However, the pilgrimage to this mystical region, which is believed to be the navel of the universe, is difficult and arduous. In fact, it is considered to be one of Asia most religious and difficult trips and yet this holy region is one of the most visited places on earth. It is believed to have invisible magnetic powers, which lures people across the globe to it.

Altitude Sickness

Altitude is a major factor on all of our Tibet tours. We often reach altitudes of over 5000m.This can have mild or severe affects on the body no matter what your level of health. Symptoms can include headache, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite, and difficulty sleeping. The best way to prevent this is to stay extremely hydrated and conscious of how your body is functioning. We also have rest days to help the body acclimatize. Diamox is a prescription altitude medication (consult your doctor) that can help prevent symptoms. We also carry oxygen tanks and portable altitude chambers. Be sure each of you is traveling on your own risk. It's recommended to have a file with your medical history on this type of trip with recent medical report.

Physical Fitness

Although most of the trip will be done in vehicles, it is important that clients be in relatively good health. The trek around Kailash requires some demanding hiking and altitude can take a physical challenge on the body. We suggest clients start an exercise routine prior to the trip that includes hiking or jogging for a least an hour 3-4 days a week.
