Lesser-Known Things to Do When Travelling To Amsterdam

Just as with every single popular travel destination out there, Amsterdam offers so many interesting opportunities for all travelers interested in visiting. We can tell you so much about exquisite things that you can consider but we will only stay focused on those options that are not really well-known. That is due to the fact that one of the best ways to experience what a city like Amsterdam has to offer is to see it as a local.

For starters, you will want to consider staying at one of the mystery hotels near Museumplein. This was a really popular street in the past that was demolished and that is now a really large grass lawn that is surrounded by Rijksmuseum and the Concert Hall.

Make sure that you will visit the Skinny Bridge, Magere Brug, which goes over Amstel River. This is a great place to simply stay and admire all the people that pass you by. Go to the 9 Streets including Runstraat and Berenstraat. In fact, try to cover as much of Amsterdam by foot as possible since the entire city is quite stunning. Include the grachten in your trip and rent a waterbike to peddle on some of the really popular canals.

TheTripBlogger warmly recommends a visit at the Anne Frank House. You should visit early during the morning. Alternatively, you can visit around 45 minutes before the museum will close. During the day, consider the Albert Heijn, which is a national grocery store chain that allows you to buy various things you would really need. Make sure that you will have some hagelslag or vla for a dessert and as a drink, choose spa.

If you want to visit a really cozy restaurant and café, we recommend IJkantine. It is located right on IJ’s opposite side and has a very interesting view. The ferry can be taken over IJ. You can easily get to the ferry station as it is close to the central station’s rear exit. If you want to listen to some classical music, do so at Het Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. Jazz shows are available at Bimhuis.
