If any holiday is made for Las Vegas, it's New Year's Eve.
Las Vegas is expecting a record 320,000+ out-of-town guests for New Year's Eve parties. Las Vegas will fill its 150,189 hotel rooms on New Year's Eve, Sam's Town RV Park also has a full house.
We will be heading to the Strip for the New Years festivities. At 6pm Las Vegas Blvd is closed to vehicle traffic and becomes party central. Four and a half miles, from the Stratosphere to the Mandalay Bay at the south end of the Strip will host tens of thousands of new years eve party goers full of holiday cheer. Eight of the Strip hotels are shooting off spectacular fireworks displays and all the hotels hosting parties.
We start a brand new year tomorrow. What new adventures does it hold for us? Where will it take us? How many new friends will we meet along the way? I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to the trip.
We will update this post after we return from the New Year's Eve Party on the Strip in Las Vegas
WOW what a night! Vegas is the place to celebrate New Years!
320,000+ the largest crowd ever on the Strip.
What a party! Awesome fireworks.
We walked the entire Strip, (south to north) and back last year , walked at least 10 miles, maybe more. While at the north end, we stopped to eat at the food court at the Riviera. We had a piece of cheese pizza and a cheese steak hoagie.
To get to the party we took a taxi from Sam's Town Hotel to as close as we could get to the Strip. Traffic came to a stop about a mile east of the southern end of the Strip so we got out and walked from there. The fare was $26, gave the driver $30.
To get home home we grabbed a taxi from just east of the Strip at the Motel 6 on Tropicana. the large hotels still had long lines waiting for taxis, while at Motel 6 we walked up and were able to get a taxi within minutes. We were dropped off right at Sam's Town RV Park. The fare was $22, gave the driver $25.

2012 Orderly New Years Eve in Vegas: Although what was estimated to be a record number of revelers in town for New Year's Eve, Metro reports that the crowds were mainly orderly and only 61 arrests were made on the Strip and downtown, all for minor misdemeanors, compared with 107 the previous year, while 22 arrests were made for driving under the influence, as opposed to 52 in 2010.
