Agra.
A visit to Agra is a must in your trip to the golden triangle of India.
The city of Agra is located in northern India in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Even during the reign of the Mughal dynasty during 16-17 centuries, Agra was the capital of India , later in 1658 capital was moved to Delhi. Agra is known all over the world especially for the fact that one of the Seven Wonders of the World "Taj Mahal" is placed here.

Going back to the history of Agra, in the early 11 th century the town was destroyed by the Afghan ruler Mahmud of Ghazni. It took almost 500 years for Agra to revive back to it's glory. In the year 1501, Sultan Sikandar Lodi made Agra his capital. The city of Agra passed into the hands of Mughals in the year 1526, when the Emperor Babur defeated the last Lodhi sultan in the battle of Panipat near Delhi.

Agra experienced a period of greatest prosperity during the mid 16 to mid-17 centuries, when it has consistently ruled by emperors like Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan. During the same time one of the seven wonders of the world Taj Mahal came in to existence.
