Bathed in the cool waters of the Caribbean Sea and located at the Southeast of the country is seated Puerto Viejo de Limon, a place, without doubts, the cradle of Caribbean culture and the ultimate dream for those who want to enjoy the sea and the rainforest . Due to that, many lovers of this culture decided, several years ago, to move here and participate as an active part of the development of this unique place. Could it be the reason why within in less than 3 miles along the beach in Puerto Viejo, you can find more than 30 different nationalities? This variety of cultures has made Puerto Viejo a colorful place full of life, great food, plenty of culture, art and great activities to enjoy while visiting the area. 

 

Among the activities carried out in the area, you can find surfing, hiking to Cahuita National Park, hiking at the rainforest, snorkeling or visiting the Sloth Sanctuary. The visit to the Sloth Sanctuary is one of our favorite activities in Horizontes, in this place, the tourists have the opportunity to learn about the sloths and to embrace the baby sloths while helps this nonprofit foundation with the money raised with the entrance fee to maintain facilities and rescue more sloths.
