The Flood Sisters Kidney Foundation of America was started in 2008 by three sisters from Westchester who saved their father's life from kidney disease by having an "out of the box" idea to post an ad on craigslist.org for a kidney donor for their father. Unfortunately, the sisters were not matches for their father. They had used craigslist.org in the past for selling items, for advertising, for childcare and for finding jobs. It was a success so they figured "why not use it for Dad'? To find him a kidney donor?

After a year and 4 months, over 100 responses nationwide, an unknown woman from California came forward and was a perfect match. From there, the sisters decided they wanted to help others going through the process. Today, the organization educates the public on kidney disease, kidney health, organ donation and living kidney donation. They have coordinated six transplants and have many more patients in testing.
