Situated in Bolara, Mangaladevi Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Managaladevi. Mangalore was previously known as Mangalapur due to Goddess Mangala Devi. Built in the memory of Princess of Malabar Mangale in 9th century, it is one of the most popular places to visit in Mangalore. Navaratri is the time for special pujas performed on all nine days. On the seventh day, Goddess Mangaladevi is worshipped as Chandika Marikamaba, on the eighth day the goddess is worshipped as Maha Saraswathi. Kudroli Temple
Also known Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, Kudroli Temple is a famous temple in Mangalore dedicated to Gokarnanatheshwara, another form of Lord Shiva. It was consecrated by Narayana Guru, the famous social reformer from Kerala. Built in 1912 by Adhyaksha Hoige Koragappa, it is one of the top places to visit in Mangalore city. The lingam in the sanctum of the temple is carved out of marble which was brought by Narayana Guru from Gokarna where he found it under water. The other deities worshipped here are Goddess Annapoorneshwari, Lord Bhairava and Lord Ganesha, son of Shiva and Parvati.
