Tourism in Morocco: regulatory reform relating to tourist guides

The Ministry of Tourism of Morocco has launched a regulatory reform that focuses on the tourist guide service, thus supporting the demanding mandate for all accredited tour guides of morocco to attend a continuing education.

The initiative, launched by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), aims to improve the quality of tourist guide service and tourism support while highlighting the importance of both in the tourism sector. In accordance with the law n ° 05-12 and its implementation regulating the profession of tourist guides, the renewal of the permits of execution of the trades of these is subjected, among others, to the registration to the formation. Indeed, evolving in a context of perpetual changes, professionals in the field face several challenges that hinder the delivery of their services.


A training in two aspects:

Tourist guides are now required to complete the initial training and to enroll in a dynamic of continuous improvement aiming at aligning their procedures with the international standards of the field, the new modification obliges tourist guides to follow this additional annual training in the field. aim to update their initial training, knowledge and skills.

These training sessions will help guides overcome critical gaps. There will be two types of training designed: the "Guide of Cities and Tourist Circuits" and "Guides of Natural Spaces". To this end, the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the regional associations of tourist guides, will organize ongoing training for tour guides from 4 October 2019.
