Both of us had a fantastic trip from the time we stepped from the airport to the time we went back to the airport.
The green covers the land like a carpet as trees and shrubs laden with the weight of sprouting leaves sway in the wind. Flashback at a few months ago. The scorching dusty brown earth punished animals
with a vengeance looking to their keepers for sustenance but even this was not
enough as many died from the drought that had hit man and animal
alike.
Today, Tsavo West National Park is full of life , hippos frolic in the water and do not have to rely on hay to survive. This was a marvelous game drive . After a relaxation afternoon of
sightseeing and a hearty dinner we retired in the cosy hotel rooms. Before we
realized it was morning already and we were being called for a game drive . It
was a breathtaking experience as the guide gave us a general description of the
park. We slowed down as we approached a site where vultures were feasting on a
carcass of a Zebra, some flew away as others continued with there meal
unperturbed.
Night game drives are also available as we learned between 7 pm to 9pm, although another session between 9pm to 11pm was recently introduced.
We drove at the Kenya Wildlife Service recommended speed of 40km/h enjoying the date with nature. Herds of Elephants had plenty of forage to eat, a definite improvement compared to the few months
ago. Hippos that had survived the drought enjoyed themselves at the Mzima
Springs. Tsavo National Park is divided into two, the Tsavo East National Park
and Tsavo West National Park. Three days is perfect for a visit to the two Tsavo
National Park. It can also be combined with a visit to the famous Amboseli
National Park well known for it's Big Jumbos (Elephants) and the only place you
can have a view of the famous Kilimanjaro Mountain located in Tanzania one of
the neighbors of Kenya.
This itenerary can help:

DAY2: Today is another fun filled day in this wonderful park, we shall enjoy our relaxed breakfast before we excitedly begin our panorama viewing drive. Watch the sun rise and how daybreak is
welcomed in the wild amid the freshness and beauty of the morning. We look on as
the grazers and hunters move on undisturbed by our presence. We will head for
the Mzima Springs where we view hippos, crocodiles, exoticfish and a variety of
bird species. We shall relax until afternoon when we shall again go for yet
another stunning game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or
camp
DAY3:Depart Tsavo for Mombasa or Nairobi.
In the evening we retired back for a mouth watering buffet in Kilanguni lodge and overnight at the same place. Early in the morning on the third day we packed our luggages, it was sad saying
goodbye to this wonderful place. But as we all know, everything thet has a
beginning always has an end, and it was time to to say goodbye to this wonderful
place and marvelous country and go back home and keep this wonderful experience
in our memories. Thank you Kenya and to our hosting outfitter.
