Vietnam Air guide: Wild flowers of the North

Vietnam airlines gives you some parts on one foreign visitors’ trip diary.

“…A trip to the northernmost points of Vietnam reveals a majestic display of floral beauty!

On a recent journey to the northern provinces of Vietnam during the first breeze days of spring, I was struck by the multicolored wildflowers in bloom all over the mountains region. My itinerary started to fly to Hanoiby Vietnamairlinestickets.com/">Vietnam Airlines and then to continue to take bus to the northernmost point of Highway 1A, the town of Lang Son, where I  encountered amazing white and pink plum and peach fields. Next, my visit toTuyen Quang and Ha Giang surprised me with bright yellow kale flowers growing beneath pink peaches along Highway 2.

White and yellow kale flowers

With peach blossoms in Sa Pa and large plum fields in Son La, Dien bien Province charms tourists with its bright colors. Its flowers are especially well-liked by the Vietnamese as decoration during Tet, the Lunar New Year. Moc Chau Plateau is painted in the light purple of the flowers of chinaberry trees and the pure white of the ban flowers grown along Pha Din Mountain Pass.

Peach blossoms

Peach and plum blossoms are typical flowers of spring. Wild peaches are different from peaches in Nhat Tan and Quang Ba. Wild peach blossoms have round buds and wide and thick petals and strong branched covered with rugged bark. Peach blossoms grown rocky Dong Van Plateau chase away cold gloomy days and light up the whole scenery with their pure and bright punk colors.

Plum blossoms

Triangular-shaped flowers are usually grown in spring and fall by locals living in Dong Van, Meo Vac (Ha Giang) and Bao Lam (Cao Bang). These flowers are herbaceous species featuring the pyramid-shaped flowers bud and pink, purple or white blossoms. The flowers are used to feed the live stock and seeds are used to make bread.

Wild flowers

Along Highway 6 up towards Long Luon Commune located in North West mountains, I encountered plum flowers grown along the valley, lasting for tens of kilometers in spring. It felt like being lost in vast wild woods covered with immense white flowers. I was also entranced at white and yellow flower fields along the paths to the town of Moc Chau.

Seeing flowers growing wild on desolate mountains in the cold of spring was an amazing and unique experience, very different than the flower villages of Nhat Tan and Tay Tuu or flower markets located on Lac Long Quan Street (Hanoi) or Nguyen Hue, Tao Dan Park (Ho chi minh City). The journey is long and sometimes difficult, but for nature lovers, a visit to the northern parts of Vietnam is worth it.
